Hijack This log

Hey everyone.

I've had some major issues with my computer with malware. It's disabled my internet explorer, to the fact that most utilities requiring an internet connection won't work, and has had my system slow and lagging for months. I have Panda Antivirus, which has worked for years, but even with constant updates and scanning it hasn't found anything. I've downloaded Avira and Malwarebytes, which has found a number of things that Panda has not, and have also been using Spybot Search and Destroy. Enclosed are the logs for both Malwarebytes and Hijack This. If anyone can be of assistance, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

I notice from your log that there's more than 1 Antivirus installed. Avira and Panda.

Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!

The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.

Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

So you have to make a decision here and keep the Antivirus you prefer and uninstall the other one.

Also, I see you have Viewpoint installed...

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player

Then reboot after uninstalling.

Then, * Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.iwon.com

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked

Then, Open Internet Explorer: Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" and check to "Automatically detect settings".

In Firefox in Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection.

Then, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.

  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
