Problem with Windows after running MBAM

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Tried to remove Malware Defense by using MBAM and it worked fine until point 21 in the automated removal instructions when I allowed the computer to reboot. I get the message that Windows needs to check my disk for consistency, it get stuck at 15% and then it reboot just to get stuck again. I can't skip the check or start-up in safe mode. I guess the virus destroyed something or MBAM cleaned a bit to mutch. I would really appreciate if someone have som advice on what to do since I'm a rookie on these things myself, thanks.
