Manual Updates, need clarification.

One would assume this needs to be done when MBAM is not running??

You can also download a manual update from... NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program.

Way behind? Why? How much is "way"?

If you're referring to copying the new database over, yes, it would need to not be running so that it loads the new DB after it's been copied.

It is always behind, I believe, because there is only one computer with the rights to digitally sign the DB installer, which is a requirement. It's often somewhere between a few days to a week or so behind.
