Malware Removed but Messed Up Internet Connection

Trams

Recommended Posts

Okay, all malware is removed but I have lost internet connection. On the Network Connections list the "local Area Connection" is stalled on "Acquiring Network Address" and has been since two days now. The actually loss of connection started about a week ago and when i clicked on the "repair" option, it stated that it "Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection." It's a wired connection through a router. I've no idea what to do so any help is appreciated.

Please run the WinSockFix as detailed here and if that doesn't fix it then please do the following so that I can get some more info:

  • Please copy and paste the following text exactly as written into notepad (not wordpad or any other text editor):
    @echo off
    net start>"%userprofile%\desktop\services.txt"
    "%userprofile%\desktop\services.txt"
    del /f /q %0

    Once you've done that click on File and select Save As...

  • In the Save dialogue box click on the drop down menu next to Save as type and select All Files
  • Name the file check.bat (the .bat extension is very important)
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click it to run it.
  • Once it finishes it will open the file it created in notepad, please copy and paste the file's contents into your next reply.

Thanks :welcome:

It looks like something's wrong with one or more of your services. I'm going to have you execute some files to hopefully get things straightened out, but first I'd like just a bit more info:

  • Please copy and paste the following text exactly as written into notepad (not wordpad or any other text editor):
    @echo off
    reg query HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CryptSvc /s>"%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    echo+>>"%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    echo=======================================================================>>"%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    echo+>>"%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    sc query type= service>>"%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    start "info" "%userprofile%\desktop\CryptoInfo.txt"
    del /f /q %0

    Once you've done that click on File and select Save As...

  • In the Save dialogue box click on the drop down menu next to Save as type and select All Files
  • Name the file cryptocheck.bat (the .bat extension is very important)
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click it to run it.
  • Once it finishes it will open the file it created in notepad, please copy and paste the file's contents into your next reply.

Thanks :)

Please run the Microsoft Internet Protocol Reset Tool which can be downloaded from here to see if it fixes the problem.

Once that's done please run the following batch file again and post the results. The fix in my previous post was supposed to correct an issue with one of your services:

  • Please copy and paste the following text exactly as written into notepad (not wordpad or any other text editor):
    @echo off
    net start>"%userprofile%\desktop\services.txt"
    "%userprofile%\desktop\services.txt"
    del /f /q %0

    Once you've done that click on File and select Save As...

  • In the Save dialogue box click on the drop down menu next to Save as type and select All Files
  • Name the file check.bat (the .bat extension is very important)
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click it to run it.
  • Once it finishes it will open the file it created in notepad, please copy and paste the file's contents into your next reply.

Thanks :D
