disluinon Posted January 2, 2010 ID:178723 Share Posted January 2, 2010 I'm also having this problem. The program freezes at different times, but never makes it more than about a minute without freezing. I'll try the solution you've recommended for Mark! Thanks! disluinon Posted January 2, 2010 ID:178809 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Well, I tried that and it didn't change anything. I ran a disk check on my hard drive, too, and that didn't change anything. I should mention that I've used the program for over a year with no problems. It's only with the latest program update that this has happened. If I boot into safe mode, the program scans with no problem!

noknojon Posted January 5, 2010 ID:179986 Share Posted January 5, 2010 Hi disluinon -If I boot into safe mode, the program scans with no problem! The only problem with this is that Malwarebytes will not scan properly in safe mode - Many files that need scanning are not opened - Have you updated or tried the Un/re install instructions as written in the link I posted to item #7 ?It usually kicks my XP SP3 version back -Thank you - EDIT - Please follow exile360 first but try these options also -

exile360 Posted January 7, 2010 ID:181012 Share Posted January 7, 2010 Hello again Looking at your Autoruns log the only potential issues I can find that could be the cause would be Diskeeper and of course AVG (which we've already discussed).Disable Some Services on XP:Click on Start and click RunIn the run box type services.msc and press EnterOnce the Services window opens, scroll down the list until you find each of the following and for each one double click on itClick the Stop button to stop the service from running, then click the drop down menu next to Startup Type and select DisabledClick the Apply button and click on OkDisk Keeper Service[*]Close the Services control panelOnce that's done, reboot your computer and try scanning again. If that does not work then please follow the instructions here and post your logs in a new topic herePlease be sure not to install any software or use any removal or scanning tools except those that you are instructed to by the expert who will be assisting you as doing so can make their job much more difficult.note: if for some reason you are unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one.If you can't even run HijackThis, then just post here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs describing your issues and an expert will reply with further instructions. That will allow for the use of more advanced tools and assistance in finding and correcting the issue that you're having.
