Hi, I downloaded the latest version of Malwarebytes this afternoon as the internet no longer works on my sisters computer. Both firefox and I.E 7 are down, and i am unable to even ping any internet server. I believe it be to malware, however i am unsure on what actual malware it is. From close inspection of the internet history it states that the following website has been visited: pro-antivirus037.com and when googling it it MalwareURL claims that it's a registered domain for malware. I can't for the life of me figure out what malware it is, as it's not coming up in system processes and i don't want to visit the site from this computer incase that it too gets infected and i will be unable to access the internet at all.

Any help with this subject would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Tom

Hello tommo and hrobinson4. Welcome to malwarebytes.org.

If you have not deliberately configured your computer to connect to a proxy server, please try this:

Open Internet Explorer.

Go to Tools ---> Internet Options ---> Connections. Click on Lan Settings ---> If Proxy server is checked, please uncheck it. You will need to do the same in Firefox under Advanced ---> Network ---> Settings ---> make sure No proxy is checked. Reboot your computer and see if you can update Malwarebytes.

If you suspect that you may have been infected by malware, please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someon has replied to your post.

I was attacked this morning by the falsealert.trojan virus. In the comments section you will see my accolades to MBAM as I kicked it's butt, and fixed my problem just like that.....

Anyway, I had a new problem updating. Error 732 (12029,0). I did a search on the forum, and found this post. Sure enough, proxy server was checked in my IE LAN settings (I wonder if the virus did that).

Anyway, I unchecked it, problem solved . Thank you so much for your advice......
