tried everything, nothing scans

Recommended Posts

I recently was informed by Ad-Aware that I had a virus...Win32.Trojan.Agent.MB I have tried everything. I am not able to scan with anything except Ad-Aware anything else freezes the machine or reboots it. My copy of MalwareBytes' will not even install and gives me the error '0' followed by the error '404' tried the Avira and as soon as I tried a scan it froze. Panda was the only thing I was able to get to scan much much earlier today, but it said it removed yet Windows 7 boots for about 10 minutes tops and my XP boot (on the same HDD separate partition) is fine unless I try to scan it with anything except the aforementioned programs, that say I am clean. I am certainly NOT clean or both my boots would run and scan and install without these bizarre issues. Also something very strange when trying to install MBam again and the other things I have tired (RootRepeal, Avira, DeFogger, GMer) A new pop-up came up for Smart Advisor which I have never heard of and have never seen before in the past with my other installs. I will also mention that my copy of Threat Fire kept telling me over and over again that it had updated which is strange behavior - although maybe not considering this system hasn't been shut down correctly in like 4 days. A thousand dollar, 2 week old paper weight.

Should I just reformat and reinstall both operating systems? Is that probably the best bet? I have had keyloggers and rootkits, on past computers that were less invasive and troubling than this thing.
