Hi and welcome onlinedon -

There are several ideas to help you to get going again - First use the Un/re install program we have listed at item #7 in the link below -

If you are using the free version then ignore the section about licenses - If it is the paid version pay special attention to the first few lines -

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...ost&p=49525

This will remove the old versions you have and should give you the latest versions - (last time I checked 1.42 Version 3406 ) -

Then read this article linked below regarding AVG which is now up to version 9 if you wish to update that -

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=167851

If you think the infection may have caused a reset of your internet (still works but limited) then read the following -

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=162097

This will restore your settings back to prior to your infection (even if you use Firefox this is needed)

If you think the infection is still lurking then I am sorry but we don't work on detailed Malware removal in the general forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available -

The top 2 linked items will give you some ideas and may repair the problem without needing other help , but always call back if you need more help -

Thank you for visiting - :D

Hi

noknojon ,

I just used the links and downloaded the clean-up file and ran it.

Then downloaded a new copy of the mbam-setup and ran it.

It goes through the normal steps until you get to the end and it stops with a popup that can't find msvbvm60.dll. If you re-install the program.

I have done a search on my PC for this file and it doen't seem to be anywhere?

Is this part of the Malwarebytes program?

I have never had a problem before installing on this PC.

What would you suggest...

Hi again Don -

My research is showing that the file you mention can be removed by a Trojan called DDS_BOMBABERor a similar name -

What you are missing is a Windows Visual Basic Virtual Machine6.0.dll - The .dll is the file type - (normal in Windows) -

I am fairly sure I do have a link for that Windows component below -

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Try the link above first , only that fails , and I hope it will not, then use the link GT500 has left below -

Click on General Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Forum heading above this topic and click on Error Codes then at the bottom of that section I think there is a Blue link to it - (Always was) - It is one of those M/soft updates you may have missed out on -

I am not sure what XP Home update you are running , But that trojan may have removed more than one file

PS. Please hit the FAST REPLY tab (at the bottom) in your response - And I hope it is a positive one -

Thanks For any Feedback - :)

EDIT - GT500 has left a direct link to the Microsoft site for Visual Basic Common Controls - The ms = Microsoft / vbvm = Visual Basic Virtual Machine and .dll is the file type name - Take your pick of download sites - (He is a boss :D ) - I got mine in my XP SP 3 package -
