Hi, I have a virus on my laptop. I have access to a desktop and would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this or downloading any programs. Here are the following details:

* Cannot boot regular..only Safe Modes

* Redirects me to pages when I click on links in both IE and Firefox

* Scanned with Norton..nothing

* Scanned with Malwarebytes - found errors and quarantined (some were reg errors)

* Scanned with PC Pitstop Exterminate - comp shut down

* Rebooted with message stating worm.win32.netsky infection window

* I cannot run any antivirus program

* I tried to download SuperAntiSpyware..it downloaded but I cannot run it

* I cannot open regedit

* I cannot access add/remove programs

* I cannot open .zip files

Is there any way to remove this virus?

Welcone Thexy, sorry we did not answer quicker - :D

If you have Malwarebytes on your other (clean) computer you can cut a CD with the latest updates and transfer it to your other computer -

This can usually be done with the infected computer in safe mode with networking (as I remember) - Click on to "remove" with any errors found when you scan as some may remain there unless you do -

To cut the CD you need a blank CD in the D drive (usual position) First always Update Malwarebytes > Right click on the Malwarebytes icon (big M) > Send to > Select your CD drive (D as noted) > Then it will cut a current version copy > Place this in your laptop and run it -

If you still have problems we are willing to check it and help repair it (for free) - Please read below -

As we don't work on detailed Malware removal problems in the general forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

Please let us know of your results - Thank you - :)

Not everyone mentions that. We don't supply canned replies for those who volunteer to help (although that's not a bad idea, and I've been wanting to write up a series of support guidelines and possible fixes to issues for our volunteer experts at least).

Ron and myself added the support e-mail to our canned replies a while ago, and a few volunteers did it as well when they saw us do it, but not everyone did.

Sorry Danerd9 -

I did not have an active link to support@malwarebytes.org at the time - Plus as you can note the quick solution was enough -

Also no mention was ever made that they may have a paid version (requiring support contact) -

They were given 2 'simple options' that suited the problem, as it was put to me - (Remember I am only a dumb Aussie) -

The first quick option seems to have worked, and that result makes me personally happy -

The second option I provided would have taken several days if they had used it -

I am not a fully qualified expert in these matters , so I put 'logical' and not technichal answers forward -

Thank you for your interest - :D
