Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted January 7, 2008 Author Root Admin ID:11662 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Try deleting all of those 0kb files. Then run the scan again. I swear, I have no clue how these are being created and not deleted.
joe53 Posted January 8, 2008 ID:11664 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Like lurkingatu2, I have been bedevilled with these 0 byte file detections by MBAM over the last several versions. Here is what I have learned:1) These files are always created while running an MBAM scan, and only detected by a subsequent scan.2) When I download and do a clean install of a new MBAM version (after uninstalling the previous version) I get none of these detections, no matter how many quick or full scans I run- until I reboot. Even then, the first MBAM scan is clean, but the 0 byte files are created and detected with the next scan.3) When I boot into Safe Mode and run MBAM, I get no 0 byte file detections.4) Suspecting that one of my resident defenses might be responsible, I sequentially disabled them from loading at start-up. Removing my BOClean, Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0, and Windows Defender from start-up made no difference. After a reboot, the first MBAM scan would still create those 0 byte files, and the second scan would detect them.5) The only resident defense I haven't disabled in start-up is NOD32 v2.7, because I don't think it is worth the risk. If NOD32 is what is creating these 0 byte files, then I will have to accept it. (Disabling the "Always scan extra and heuristics objects" results in no detection).Hope this info is of some help. lurkingatu2 Posted January 8, 2008 ID:11674 Share Posted January 8, 2008 hellowhen i was testing comodo v3 beta's one time i started a scan with mbam i doin'tremember the version number and forgot to exit out of comodo v3 and started to getpopups about everything mbam was scanning so i stoped mbam from scanning and exitout of comodo v3 and started a scan with mbam again and let it finish but now when i looked in comodo v3 under proactive defince there is allwise 60 to 70 files thereunder files are waiting for your review after a mbam scan some of the files that are waiting for review have the same names as the files that mbam found yesterday i have tryed to remove and purge them from comodo v3 but thaykeep comming back after a scan with mbam i'm thinking i'm not cleaning up something about comodo v3 in the registry beforei install comodo v3 or something as i doin't have problems with comodo v2.4when i scan with superantispyware and avira antivir pe classic i doin't get files waiting for review in comodo v3 but i also make sure i exit comodo first thanks
Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted January 8, 2008 Author Root Admin ID:11687 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Just to let everybody know here is what we have planned so far for 0.89.(FIXED) New functions to check if file and folder exist. The old ones sometimes failed and returned that a shortcut was a folder and it would try to scan it as a folder.(FIXED) Problems detecting filenames starting with period on Vista. On Vista, files such as C:\Window\.malware are allowed and we were not scanning them correctly.(FIXED) Other problems relating to 0kb files being created. This time MBAM really DOES clean up the leftovers. I hope it works this time ...(FIXED) Improved detection of Appinit_DLLs.(ADDED) New locations to registry scan.(ADDED) New image to about form. All pretty self explanatory. The image will be a version of the one on top of the forums right now. Any other suggestions/bug fixes?

Root Admin RubbeR DuckY Posted January 9, 2008 Author Root Admin ID:11692 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Stop scan could lead users to believe the scan will be stopped briefly (paused). I like abort better.
