A scan with the free version of Malwarebytes 4 for Mac only scanned a Mac Mini computer for one minute and 16 seconds, even though it has been given full disk access. How can the free version of Malwarebytes 4 for Mac be configured to complete a full disk scan of the computer? The preferences and settings tabs for this version does not provide an option for a full disk scan. Thanks for any tips.

Thanks for the link, I read the information but I still have questions about how the scan works. After a scan has completed, there is no information on what area of the desktop computer has been scanned. Also, every time a scan is engaged, does Malwarebytes check a different section of the computer disk? If so, many scans would be needed to check the entire computer disk. Thanks for a clarification. I have the free version, so I'm not sure if the paid version performs scans in the same way as the free version. Are there advantages to using the paid version as compared to the free version?

Scans are the same. Paid adds real-time protection.

Malwarebytes for Mac does not scan like a traditional AV. Each scan will only target locations and processes that are known to be infected.

I'm trying to understand the phrase, "known to be infected." So Malwarebytes scans target areas and somehow knows that other areas are not infected?

Knows where malware can be potentially installed.

It knows where malware can't exist so it skips those locations.

MB for Mac is more about browser hijackers and rouge or malicious programs than the files on the computer.

A Mac is not like Windows and Apple controls and limits what Malwarebytes can scan and do.
