I downloaded MBAM because it was recommended to get rid of a problem: explorer.exe and systray would not load on startup.

I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite, but this was the log after the first scan with MBAM

Memory Processes Infected:

Registry Keys Infected:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{095c0db4-fea6-440e-8dfc-00fc53ac827d} (Trojan.Perfiler) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command\(default) (Broken.OpenCommand) -> Bad: (NOTEPAD.EXE %1) Good: (regedit.exe "%1") -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Folders Infected:

(No malicious items detected)

Files Infected:

C:\Program Files\delete.exe (Trojan.Downloader) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

(Btw some of the Trojans seem to have come from Samsung PC Studio 3)

I then ran a scan with ZoneAlarm antivirus and nothing came up.

After the clean-up, the explorer.exe and systray problem resolved temporarily but returned some days later.

I ran MBAM again and found these two infections had recurred (possibly due to System Mechanic which is on my system).

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\scrfile\shell\open\command\(default) (Broken.OpenCommand) -> Bad: (NOTEPAD.EXE %1) Good: ("%1" /S) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command\(default) (Broken.OpenCommand) -> Bad: (NOTEPAD.EXE %1) Good: (regedit.exe "%1") -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

I ran MBAM again and deleted the HKEY_CLASSES infections again, and the explorer.exe problem resolved again temporarily.

Now it has recurred again, and running MBAM didn't help this time. :)

Any advice anyone?

Linda
