SSD died Malwarebytes subs with it

Recommended Posts

I had a lifetime subscrition for MWB Premium.   My system ssd died and I  had to start from scratch. When I tried to re install MWB it said: You have reached the device limit for your subscription..........   error code MB4031104...  My licence was fully working and operational up to the day the SSD died.   Is there anyway I can get it reinstalled on my new drive? using my existing subs number?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

Transfer your subscription to a different device

You can transfer your subscription from one device to another, as subscriptions can be used across different devices, platforms, and products.

To transfer your subscription between devices:

  1. Deactivate the original device from your subscription. For instructions, see Deactivate device from your subscription.
  2. Install and activate your Security on the new device. For instructions, see Install & activate Malwarebytes personal products.

Porthos,  thanks for your response. However, I can't deactivate as I dont have the drive any more, ie no access to the rpogram. I have tried to install and activate using the licence key/MB code and get the message first stated above. It seems that MWB still think I'm using the software ona ssd which is no longer with us.  I'm guessing that MWB won't allow a new installation. Don't have a clue how to contact or discuss with them..

Porthos, sorry for the delay..

Yes I did have a Malwarebytes account,MWB  just doesn't seem to register/ recognise it, or send password change tec.

Licence was purchased via 3rd party supplier.    With what has happened to me, does MWB think that I deactivated the licennce?

Assuming you refer to the supplier:- it was an eBay trader called "softboxdownload"  for   "Malwarebytes Anti-malware V2.02 Lifetime Licence"

How long ago was this purchase?

Also, Ebay is not an authorized outlet.

Did you personally add this license to your my.malwarebytes.com account WAY before this issue happened?

JUst checked, purchase was October 2014, its been in use and automatically upgraded sinec my ssd disaster. So far as I can recall it was registered with MWB, thats how I have a record of my login details which now dont work.  It's looking doubtful I'll have any sucess  isn't it?

I have access to my current  e mail that I used to register years ago, but when I try to log in now it doesn't recognise me. When I request email contact for forgotton password the message reads:- If user with provided email exists in our records, you will receive an email with further instructions.      AND I don't get an eMail...

So looks like my record etc doesn't even exist according to MWB .

LOsing hope now, looks like I'll probably give up and think of alternatives..
