Being constantly hacked on everything

Recommended Posts

Over the past couple of months, I've noticed unusual login activity on my social media and email accounts, so I changed my passwords, added 2FA, did a windows defender offline scan as well as a malwarebytes spot check, and removed all browser plugins. After all of that, the issue still did not correct itself so I performed a fresh install of windows (but I might have failed to format and partition the drives). This seemed to correct the issue for a while, until recently I noticed on my google account activity that my google account was being used to watch youtube videos in a foreign language as well as searching random google queries with long urls. The links cause chrome to automatically download a txt file. Upon checking my other social media accounts, I found that they have been compromised as well. Doing another full system scan, malwarebytes is unable to find any detections. I do not know what else to do but keep changing my passwords which is getting very old very fast. I am not very well versed in cybersecurity, as this is my first computer, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

@pendrop

Although I will not be directly assisting you, a malware removal expert will be along to assist after you do the following.

Let's get the info to get the process started. Be aware it will take many steps and scans to fully remove malware.

Please respond to all future instructions from your helper in a timely manner.

Let's go ahead and run a couple of scans and get some updated logs from your system. Please read the entire post below before starting so that you're more familiar with the process

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus real-time protection or other security software first only if it blocks or interferes with the scans or downloads.. Make sure to turn it back on once the scans are completed
  • Temporarily disable Microsoft SmartScreen to download software below only if needed. Make sure to turn it back on once the downloads are completed

Welcome smile.png

I'll be helping you with your computer.

Please read this post completely before beginning. If there's anything that you do not understand, please don't hesitate to ask before proceeding.

Please take note of the guidelines for this fix:

  • Please note that I am a volunteer. I do have a family, a career, and other endeavors that may prevent immediate responses that meet your schedule. Do note that the differences in time zones could present a problem as well. Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated.
  • First of all, the procedures we are about to perform are specific to your problem and should only be used on this specific computer.
  • Do not make any changes to your computer that include installing/uninstalling programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, nor running scanners or tools of any kind unless specifically requested by me.
  • Please read ALL instructions carefully and perform the steps fully and in the order they are written.
  • If things appear to be better, let me know. Just because the symptoms no longer exist as before, does not mean that you are clean.
  • Continue to read and follow my instructions until I tell you that your machine is clean.
  • If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask before performing the task that I ask of you, and please wait for my reply before you proceed.
  • Scanning with programs and reading the logs do take a fair amount of time. Again, your patience will be necessary. smile.png

Let's begin...

There is no evident malware in those logs. You should quarantine all Malwarebytes Antimalware detected.

Let run a script to review some of the settings:

The following Fix will empty these folders:

  • Windows Temp
  • Users Temp folders
  • Edge, IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History
  • Recently opened files cache
  • Discord cache
  • Java cache
  • Steam HTML cache
  • Explorer thumbnail and icon cache
  • BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files)
  • Recycle Bin
  • Hosts file will be reset

Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask before running this fix.

The system will be rebooted after the fix has run.

FRST64 was saved as C:\Users\bonjw\Downloads\FRSTEnglish.exe

  • Download the enclosed file  Fixlist.txt
  • Save it in the same location FRST64 is saved. (FRSTEnglish.exe)
  • Start FRST (FRST64) with Administrator privileges
  • This time around Press the Fix button and wait
  • When finished, a log file (Fixlog.txt) will pop up and saved in the same location the tool was ran from.

Please attach this file in your next reply.

Please run the following ESET Online Scanner and perform a Full Scan

  • When prompted for scan type, Click on the Full Scan button
  • Enable  ( select )   the radio selection "Enable ESET to detect and quarantine potentially unwanted applications"   and click the Start scan button.
  • Have patience.  The entire process may take a few hours or more.
  • When the scan is completed, if something was found, it will show a screen with the number of detected items.  If so, click the button marked “View detected results”.
  • Click The blue “Save scan log” to save the log and give it a name and location you remember.
  • If something was removed and you know it is a false postive, you may click on the blue ”Restore cleaned files”  ( in blue, at the bottom).
  • Press Continue when all done.  You should click to turn off the offer for “periodic scanning”.

Sorry for the late reply, there is a new issue now, I think something changed my firewall rules to include this website. At first, the website wouldn't open on my pc at all. After restarting my pc, I was able to login but not view this forum post. Only after creating a new account with the forum was I able to view this post on the original account. This is very strange because I have excellent ethernet connection. Also, when I open the executable file for this program, it says that the database is out of date and asks me if I would like to update before I scan. Should I update? Thank you again for being so patient.

Sync is off for Chrome, I have no policies enabled for Chrome, I've uninstalled all extensions, and I've verified the default search engine/new tab/browser. As per the instructions, I've refrained from deleting the chrome folder in the registry editor because the files it contains do not look like the photo provided. I may have been incorrect about the browser being the issue.

The Service Host process (svchost.exe) is a shell for loading services from DLL files. Services are organized into groups, and each group is run inside a different instance of the Service Host Process. There are usually many instances of svchost.exe running because Windows requires numerous services to operate correctly.

For information click here:

What Is the Service Host Process (svchost.exe) and Why Are So Many Running? (howtogeek.com)

How is it doing?
