My PC speakers dont work..

I just had a PC virus..... removed now.... but now my sound or speakers dont work.

I have went into control panel and made sure its all set right.... seems ok.

Checked the keyboard.... seems ok

My speakers are old so they may have just went out on me but wanted to ask here incase I may have over looked somthing..

I have a GateWay desktop with XP, Cambridge Soundworks speakers.
