ElectricMouse Posted August 13 ID:1654831 Share Posted August 13 So I have edge and it updated this morning but now it shows a page called 'Accoona' and searches online yields nothing helpful. I'm working on removing it but what is it? Is it a virus or malware? I haven't clicked on strange links or downloaded anything suspicious. I had installed Malewarebytes and it is blocking it but I want it gone. Scans aren't picking it up. And Edge's search engine list isn't picking it up either. As for Skyjem, it gets through and I don't know how to get rid of it. I ran ADWCleaner, and got this...I don't know if this is the problem or not. I have an adblocker extension, but its never given me a problem. It just started this week.

Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted August 14 Root Admin ID:1655023 Share Posted August 14 Good day @ElectricMouse The logs indicate you're running a full version of McAfee Antivirus as well as a full version of Avast Antivirus. Please choose one or the other and fully uninstall the other one. Having two full AV suites like these is going to cause conflicts. The logs do not show an obvious infection thus my guess is that you simply have a bad entry in your settings for Microsoft Edge which looks to be your default browser. Please try to clean and reset ALL sync data from the Microsoft Edge browser Reset Microsoft Edge data in the cloud https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-learnmore-reset-data-in-cloud Check all your home page, search page, and other setting in Microsoft Edge to clean up and reset to valid good entries Also, don't forget to check for Windows Updates today
ElectricMouse Posted August 14 Author ID:1655028 Share Posted August 14 Oh will do, out of the two AVs which would you recommend me keeping? I had McAfee as a trial and I'm just more familiar with Avast due to it being used the most in my household. But I don't really know which is better. And should I reset the settings as well of the edge browser or leave that be? Thanks again :)
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted August 14 Root Admin ID:1655031 Share Posted August 14 Both AV are pretty close on par with each other. If you're more familiar with Avast then I'd go with that. I would not use their Avast Browser though. Yes, clean up Microsoft Edge and reset it.
