Use the utility I sent you and hide all Microsoft Updates, then go to Asus and get the application they use to scan your computer and select all updates from Asus. Once all drivers from Asus are in place, go back to Windows Updates and see if able to install.

I tried going to ASUS, I downloaded what I saw for ASUS E510 but I tried to install the intel one that would be for the usb drivers, it said to download it from windows update. And that’s one that failed. Others said they were not for my computer. Or that I didn’t have codecs to open the file. lol Even though they were for my model. I used my ASUS app also, and it said to go to windows update.

Been trying to update for the last hour. Nothing is working like it should.

Drivers I installed previously with no issues won’t open, or take 10x to open. A message popped up saying Windows Defender found threats. I try to click take action, when I did I could see the threats for 1 second and it refreshed fast and I could no longer see it. This is how it happened in the past as well.( Windows Defender found threats and then wouldn’t let me see them, and eventually it would not open at all. But for awhile it did and just looked like it was working. Then I would do another scan but the threat was hidden, and when you try to look to see if any threats were removed there’s nothing there.) I’m doing an offline scan but I had done these before after the same thing and it would no longer detect anything. Hope this isn’t a repeat. How would that even be happening?

We can make things easier if we create an Installation Media with the latest version. This version will not need that many updates.

You have two things against you, a small Hard drive and not too much memory to handle that many updates. You think you may be able to download the latest version of Windows 11 and create a USB installation Media.

Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

Create the installation Media and lets start again.

Can I make the usb from this laptop? Hold that question until the end lol

I restarted after installing a driver, then windows wouldn’t start.  Went to recovery to try to see if startup repair would work. It didn’t. Just out of curiosity I booted to the boot disk, and woo hoo the drive letter was moved to the 604.0mb partition. Drive letter removed from the 115.9GB drive that should be C:.
At least I have a sense of humor.
I can add the drive letter back and make that disk from this laptop. Or I can make the usb tomorrow from my son’s pc when he is home. I appreciate the help and patience I REALLY DO!
