Browser Guard Blocking my website

I have some software I wrote years ago and it likely the reason my website gets blocked as the protection I use on the software may appear suspicious to some AV software. If I check my file with VirusTotal it has 11 out of 71 that deem it suspicious. I don't sell many pieces of the software but I had a sale yesterday and when the person went to download it they were stopped. They are using McAffee AV. But when I went to my website to download and test my app I was blocked by MB Browser Guard using Firefox. I said proceed anyway and it went back to the last page I was on before clicking the downloads page. So I ended up selecting "do not block this website again" and got my download and tested it with VirusTotal. Then when I went to the MB section to report a false positive it had a list of thing I need to provide. So I was going to take a screenshot of the error page but I couldn't because it worked fine as I unblocked it. So I went into the setting of Browser Guard and removed my website from the list of unblocked websites and it still allow me access to the site. I removed Browser Guard from Firefox and reinstalled it and it still allows access to my website. How can I switch that back to allow me to take a screenshot of my MB blocked website page that shows when going there or to my download page?

Thanks

Thank you.

The subject of the post was "Browser Guard Blocking my website" however you have not provided a Domain or fully qualified URL being blocked, a Log or a ScreenShot of Malwarebytes blocking the web site.

MBG does not act on software, that's MBAM's role, so the below assertion is not relevant.

MBG may make a Heuristic block on the Download of software but is is not based upon the software itself, its the download process that MBG has dynamically blocked.

MBG does have a Download Debug Logs.  The below Ani-GIF will show where it is above Clear Browser Guard storage.

Taking a ScreenShot is easy.  Windows 11  has built in features as well as some Browsers like Firefox.  I personally like and use  XnView .

I did what is shown (multiple times) but now it continues to allow me to visit my site and the download page and the download link without complaining. When I click the Clear Browser Guard Storage it appears to do something as I get a visual spinning circle like activity, but everything remains the same.

Thanks,

Dave

You are missing a step when clearing the browser guard storage.

If you're having issues with Malwarebytes Browser Guard you may want to try to update the program manually.

  • Click on the extension icon

image.png.c3d1355b1668828e969c67a051b3c18b.pngIf you can not see the Browser Guard icon in the browser toolbar, click the puzzle icon and unhide or pin the icon.

  • Click the Kebab Menu -> then Support
  • Click the Check for database updates button
  • If still having an issue then click Clear Browser Guard Storage, Restart the Browser, and check for Database Updates again

Well, I don't know why it doesn't work as I have tried what you posted numerous times and it remains the same. Here is what my interface popup looks like. I am missing the info in the right lower corner compared to your screenshot. I guess I can live with it working as is, but I was hoping to be able to reverse my decision to make sure it works.

It is v2.6.24, and older version.  It is very difficult to maintain up-2-date helpful ScreenShots and Ani-GIFs.

I understand. I have the latest version I guess at v2.6.27 so that should be fine.

I just realized this post is under the "Chrome" topic and I am using Firefox. I could have swore that is where I made my original post. Could somebody move this thread to the Malwarebytes Browser Guard Firefox section?

Thanks,

Dave

edit: I originally posted this under the False Positives section and it was moved by a moderator.

Browser guard is the same across the board. But I will move it again.

Thanks, I will check back later as I have tried everything over and over and removed and reinstalled the Browser Guard to no avail. It's not causing any real issues but it must be a bug so I hope they fix it.

Ahhhhh,

I just went to the download page but didn't actually try to download the file. When I clicked to download it the file explorer opens up but it doesn't block the file until you actually click the SAVE button. I didn't think it got that far before it actually blocked it. My bad.

Case Closed!

Thanks for all the help and hanging in there with me. I appreciate it. 😁

Not yet, the BG team still needs to white list so it won't happen to your users.

@JPopovic@BjelakovicL

You are right. I need that to be added to the white list. I wonder how many potential customers I may have lost. 😆 Do I need to or can I mark it as not solved or can you do that for me?

Thanks,

Dave
