Malwarebytes right click file scan option

Recommended Posts

After initially installing Malwarebytes the right click file scan option appeared and worked fine. Today. however, I noticed the option was not available. I opened Malwarebytes > settings and the right click option box was unchecked. I placed a check in the box and restarted my computer. Still no right click scan option. I then uninstalled Malwarebytes cleaned the registry of all Malwarebytes entrys then reinstalled making sure the box for the option was checked. All to no avail. The option still doesn't appear. I also use Avast Home and the right click option for it is there and working fine. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

Hi joelj1964,

You don't say what your operating system is, but right click context menu scanning is not currently implemented for x64 OS's. It will be included in the next release.

You say it used to work - have you upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit? If not, there may be something wrong with your shell settings in Windows.

Sorry for not providing enough info. My OS is XP Pro and I have a 32 bit system. How do I check the shell settings and adjust them?

using the first code in your reply I received a message that it succeeded. I then right clicked to see if the mbam scan option was there but nothing. I then tried the second code in your reply and it said it failed.

Alright, please carefully follow the instructions in this post to see if it corrects the problem.

If it does not then please do the following so I can try to further diagnose the issue:

Please download Sysinternals Autoruns from here.

  • Save Autoruns.exe to your desktop and double-click it to run it.
  • Once it starts, please press the Esc key on your keyboard.
  • Now that scanning is stopped, click on the Options button at the top of the program and select Verify Code Signatures
  • Once that's done press the F5 key on your keyboard, this will start the scan again, this time let it finish.
  • When it's finished, please click on the File button at the top of the program and select Save and save the Autoruns.arn file to your desktop and close Autoruns.
  • Right click on the Autoruns.arn file on your desktop and hover your mouse over Send To and select Compressed (zipped) Folder
  • Attach the Autoruns.zip folder you just created to your next reply
