Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

Why does a VPN now take up about 20% of my Malwarebytes premium App but It won't let me actually add a VPN to my account?

Do have an old lifetime Malwarebytes or a subscription?

I have a lifetime, and While I get they probably won't offer a VPN on a life time plan, I should still be able to add a VPN to my account but there does not seem to be any way to do it.

No yet but is in the works. They are working out the logistics of combining a lifetime Premium and a subscription for the VPN.

Do you know if they have any idea how long that will take?  Like a few weeks or a year?

I live in one of those states that have roped off parts of the internet.

No ETA.

Malwarebytes VPN is not designed to bypass geo-restrictions.

What exactly are you trying to get around?

Nothing in particular, I honestly don't know much about VPNs other than them hiding your IP which gives you added security with the benefit of being able to watch streaming content that is region blocked (so say all the youtubers who advertise them). I have been toying with the idea of getting a VPN for about 2 years for the added safety but not knowing which are good, now a company I have used for years has one and I decide to finally get one, and I can’t which is annoying.

Normally when you browse the Internet your ISP logs EVERY URL you visit forever. Most ISP never delete your logs. If you've been with your ISP for 15 years they typically will have logs of every site you've visited for 15 years.

With VPN not only is your real IP masked but they do not log any site you visit.

It is not an anonymity feature as it is nearly impossible to be fully anonymous on the Internet as most users sooner or later will do something that gives their real details up. But most people just do not like someone monitoring EVERY site they visit and log it forever.

Yeah I did not expect to be a ghost or anything, I do like the idea of the ISP not having my data to sell.

For example, I cannot watch Amazon Prime videos with the VPN on.

I did not know that was happening, so sites are blocking VPNs like they block AdBlockers... I guess that is to be expected.

Thanks, both of you, I like the fact that I am getting help from a Star Fleet Captain, and a captain's dog.

I just wish I had an idea if it is looking like it is going to be months, or closer to a year or longer till the non-subscription Premium accounts can add the VPN.

I'm sorry but I don't have an answer for that question. I know the team is actively looking at the issue but there are many back end systems going back several years that also need regression testing, as well as working with 3rd party financial systems.

A bit complex to simply say we'll have it fixed next month. All I can say is we are aware and we are looking into it
