Hello! @1PW @David H. Lipman @Porthos Thank you all for the responses, I truly appreciate it.

I ended up clearing all of my cache and cookies. Restarted my computer a bunch of times and after a while it started working again, which doesn't give me confidence. I will go ahead and do the Factory Reset option as well.

@1PW I'm not sure what it means for me that you were able to recreate the error. I am using an iMac 24inch M1 with macOS Sonoma 14.5. Safari version 17.5 (19618.2.12.11.6).

I think my biggest concern is that my colleague has had the same issue this week or last week. How do I know if my computer is not hacked? Is this just a random Mac/safari issue or is someone hacking me? In addition, sometimes my Mac keychain password authenticator will pop up randomly when I'm not trying to log into anything. It's the one where I can use my finger print on the keyboard to unlock my saved passwords.

Apologies in advance if my lingo is not very tech, I get a little lost in this part of the tech world.

Thank you again!

Danielle

Hello @DanielleBBCPA:

I sincerely apologize for my confusing post to your topic. If I had addressed my reply directly to @gatortail and cc'd you at the end, the Malwarebytes Program Manager for MBG would have been the primary addressee. I wanted Matt to have all the necessary facts for more in-depth analysis.

As to your remaining hacking concerns, you have not related any other facts that would point in that direction. As long as the iMac is kept up-to-date, and your colleague does the same, your fears should be minimal.

Thank you.

We've found the issue relates to updating the protection databases, the machine may get temporarily stuck on an old version.

To fix, a factory reset, clicking database update, or just giving it some time to self heal.  Once the databases are up to date it should function properly.

We'll work on a resolution to prevent this in v2.6

Hello!

Interesting timing. For a while everything was working fine and then last week / this week it stopped working again. I'm not sure what I did this time to get it working again. My Browser Guard is up to date with 2.6.0. Just now, I did have to manually go in and allow automatic updates in the settings. Things seem to be working fine right now.

Let me know if you have other questions!

Danielle
