[ RESOLVED ] Scheduled Scan Starts One Hour Late Since MB Upgraded to v5.0.x

Recommended Posts

My Malwarebytes Premium application self-upgraded from v4.6.12.323-1.0.2309 to v5.1.3.110-1.0.1219 on 19-Apr-2024, and since then my weekly Threat Scans that are scheduled to run at 6:00 PM every Friday have started one hour late at 7:00 PM.  I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in the Central time zone and assume this is similar to the problem reported by Krusty in their October 2022 Scheduled Scan Not Changing When Daylight Savings Changes where Malwarebytes v5.0.x does not recognize that I'm currently on Central Daylight Time (CDT).  My system clock shows the correct date and time.

I'm guessing this could be fixed by deleting my current scheduled scan and creating a new one from scratch but I didn't want to make any changes to my Malwarebytes settings until someone has looked at my mbst-grab-results.zip file.

Here's what my scan schedule looks like in my settings ....

..and this shows today's (17-May-2024) Friday scheduled scan launching at 7:00 PM.

Please note that my Malware.AI.4289315118 detection today for HiBit System Information Portable v2.1.20 (HiBitSysInfo-Portable-2.1.20.zip) has been reported as a false positive in my 17-May-2024 topic FP - HiBit System Information Portable v2.1.20 (Malware.AI.4289315118).

    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.

Perhaps it is related to a Day Light Savings issue?

Hi AdvancedSetup:

As expected, deleting my "old" scheduled scan and creating a new one solved the problem, and my latest weekly scan ran on schedule at 6:00 PM this past Friday.

Daylight Savings Time (DST) started in Canada on 10-Mar-2024 and my Malwarebytes Premium didn't auto-update from v4.x to v5.x until 19-Apr-2024.  I suppose it's possible that I didn't notice that my scheduled scans were running an hour late as far back as 10-Mar-2024 (this glitch has happened to me before during a DST switch) but I don't know for certain if that was the case this time since my scan reports don't go back that far.

Whatever the cause, Malwarebytes is the only software I've used that will occasionally lose track of the one hour DST offset for my time zone, even though my system clock shows the correct time of day. I understand this isn't a critical bug but I wish the software developers would fix this annoying glitch once and for all.
