Anti-Rootkit up to date and stopped!

Recommended Posts

I have used this program for many years. Only recently it removed 6 rootkits from the registry. It updated to v2024.03.13.12 about two weeks ago and there appears no further patch updates. I also use the Premium and it too searched for rootkits however, two weeks back it found none and so I ran this program and it found six! I'm not entirely sure they were false postives or not. I also see that on your website, you no longer offer support for this Anti-Rootkit. Any advice would be welcome.

Christ sakes man, My PC is NOT infected, the purpose of my post was initially to ascertain why Anti-Rootkit has reached a brick wall with its updates? It doesn't update anymore as you can see from the video (been this way for two weeks). I came here to see if anyone knows why its reached a brick wall with no further updates. Has Malwarebytes turned off the server for this program? I'm assuming you won't know the answer to this but a more senior technical person would perhaps.

Hello @Tuscan Driver

I'm not sure when but we are probably going to post soon about this software. I don't believe we are doing further developments for the program but I don't know all the details yet.

Please look for a post here on the forums probably within a few weeks or so if not sooner.

Thank you

Thanks for the posting. Yes, as I had presumed all along, the developers have shutdown their program and turned off any further updates. Will be interesting to see why they took this view considering as I stated in the above, I ran the MB Premium and found no registry rootkits however, after running their Anti-Rootkit program, it found six rootkits in the registry. That would suggest maybe the developers should consider keeping this external rootkit tool.

Seconded! I love this tool. I can take a number of suspected, infected PCs offline, update MBAR on a thumb drive and take it machine to machine to scan without having to be online or install any programs. If I'm going to use it again the next week I can update the database with my laptop and then put the thumb drive into a new machine with it completely up to date.

And Tuscan Driver; I have had similar experiences where MBAR found things the full AV didn't find. Maybe all that functionality has been incorporated now, I did find it curious that I had to Enable Rootkit scanning since it's off by default, but I really do miss this tool. Just last week I aided a local company clean a ransomware attack from their network and MBAR would have been the perfect tool for the job.

It is not updated any longer and will produce many false positives now. It has been discontinued.

The only way to use the rootkit scanner that is up to date is with the main installed Malwarebytes product.
