Chat GPT AI Malware. Is it a legit malware

Yes.  I received two PDF documents and one Word document.  They all looked legitimate to me.

Then I think those 3 files were not a side effect of ChatGPT. I think they were downloaded by you at a different time.

I do have Cyberlink PowerDirector 365 and it uses an "application manager" to update itself but I have not updated in over a week.  I guess if I downloaded them previously why would Malwarebytes just now had flagged them?  BTW.  Thank you for your help and your diligence in putting up with me.  So very thankful!

Malwarebytes definitions update several times a day. That detection was an AI heuristic detection.

AI detections can fix themselves in about 24 hours if the file is not bad.

That's why I volunteer here on the forums. To help others and I have been a user of Malwarebytes before it was even called that and am also a reseller and computer tech and next to the staff, I have a good knowledge of the program and how it works.

So do you think I am OK?  And should I just delete the files and not worry about it?

I would.

Not sure what an AI heuristic detection is.

If a file walks like a duck and quacks like a duck the AI takes action because it thinks it is a duck. Some AI detections are real and some end up being false positives. Malwarebytes sides on the side of caution and quarantines them to be on the safe side to protect the users.

Now let's end this as this section of the forum is not a "discussion" section. It is only for reporting false positives and I have let it go off-topic sorta.

Sorry I picked the wrong forum.

No, I moved your post to this section so the files could be checked to see if they were false positives or not. You made no error.

I just took a bit of instruction/help to get what was needed for that to happen, not a problem.

Well you were a great help for me. I just deleted the files and assumed that they were not malware as Malwarebytes did not find a threat when it scanned them after being restored (is that correct?).

Thanks. It is obvious you are an expert in this.
