I was infected, now I'm not?

For the past few days, I've been infected with the Antivirus System Pro virus, and now it's suddenly stopped showing up. I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes, and it's not showing the same things anymore. Does this mean it's gone, or is it about to get a lot worse?

If you delete the file with malwarebytes, as you have done here - then it shouldn't come back anymore.

Okay. I just wasn't sure because the virus just vanished all of a sudden. MBAM had been finding far more infected files than just the one, and when I restarted my computer, the virus was gone.

Hi,

Well, that's what a scanner is supposed to do. When you scan and you select to delete what it found, it will then indeed delete it, so that explains why it was gone afterwards, after reboot.

Well, I worded that rather poorly.

I ran the scans, but afterward, the virus was never gone, so I gave up and came here. I shut the comp down without scanning and the virus still popping up with it's warnings. When I restarted the computer, it was gone.

It confused me, but it hasn't resurfaced and further scans come up clean. I was just confused by the how delayed my computer was in getting rid of it.

It does make sense though since malwarebytes sets a cleanup script after reboot for the more stubborn malware, so when you reboot, malwarebytes then cleans up the rest. That's why it's always important that you reboot after detection and select to remove.
