Akilli Posted December 21, 2023 ID:1606519 Share Posted December 21, 2023 a while ago windows defender suddenly just gave me tons of warning about Grenam.VA!MSR and just wouldn't stop, and often whenever i tried to open it, it would just crash or not let me do anything, and the few times it did let me do anything it wouldn't work. so i decided to install malwarebytes and scanned and deleted some stuff that was suspicious, and left it at that. Today I remembered that I should probably remove malwarebytes to check if windows defender is still giving me warnings or not, and sure enough it is still giving me warnings, I looked it up and found this post on the forum about it and I tried following the steps and i've attached the files that were requested there too. Hell I even cleared *my* firefox cache just to be sure but that also did not work Addition.txt AdwCleaner[S00].txt FRST.txt malwarebytes export.txt
JSntgRvr Posted December 21, 2023 ID:1606550 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Hi Welcome I'll be helping you with your computer. Please read this post completely before beginning. If there's anything that you do not understand, please don't hesitate to ask before proceeding. Please take note of the guidelines for this fix: Please note that I am a volunteer. I do have a family, a career, and other endeavors that may prevent immediate responses that meet your schedule. Do note that the differences in time zones could present a problem as well. Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated. First of all, the procedures we are about to perform are specific to your problem and should only be used on this specific computer. Do not make any changes to your computer that include installing/uninstalling programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, nor running scanners or tools of any kind unless specifically requested by me. Please read ALL instructions carefully and perform the steps fully and in the order they are written. If things appear to be better, let me know. Just because the symptoms no longer exist as before, does not mean that you are clean. Continue to read and follow my instructions until I tell you that your machine is clean. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask before performing the task that I ask of you, and please wait for my reply before you proceed. Scanning with programs and reading the logs do take a fair amount of time. Again, your patience will be necessary. Let's begin... Download the enclosed file Fixlist.txt Save it in the same location FRST64.exe is saved. Start FRST (FRST64) with Administrator privileges This time around Press the Fix button and wait When finished, a log file (Fixlog.txt) will pop up and saved in the same location the tool was ran from. Please attach this file in your next reply. AdwCleaner - Clean Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it. When AdwCleaner starts, on the left side of the window, click on “Settings” and then enable these repair actions on that tab-window by clicking their button to the far-right for ON status Delete IFEO keys Delete tracing keys Delete Prefetch files Reset Proxy Reset IE Policies Reset Chrome policies Reset Winsock Reset HOSTS file Click Scan Now When the scan has finished a Scan Results window will open. Please check all boxes and then click Quarantine Click Next If any pre-installed software was found on your machine, a prompt window will open ... Click OK to close it Check any pre-installed software items you want to remove (if they're not causing you a problem I recommend you don't select any) Click Quarantine A prompt to save your work will appear ... Click Continue when you're ready to proceed. A prompt to restart your computer will appear ... Click Restart Now Once your computer has restarted ... If it doesn't open automatically, please start AdwCleaner ... Click the Log Files tab ... Double click on the latest Clean log (Clean logs have a [C0*] suffix, where * is replaced by a number, the latest scan will have the largest number) A Notepad file will open containing the results of the removal. Please post the contents of the file in your next reply.

Akilli Posted December 21, 2023 Author ID:1606581 Share Posted December 21, 2023 FRST ran fine, here's the file. Fixlog.txt But when I got to adwcleaner, I set all the settings as you said and scanned but I did not get a scan results window, all it says is "No items were detected on your system." and no boxes to check off as you mentioned in your reply. Here's a screenshot. What am I supposed to do here?
JSntgRvr Posted December 21, 2023 ID:1606588 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Logs look clear. Lets perform an online scan. Temporarily disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here. Please visit the ESET Online Scanner website Click the One-Time Scan button to download the esetonlinescanner.exe file to the Desktop Double click esetonlinescanner.exe. then the GetStarted button. Accept the Terms of Use and the Get Started again. Enable reccomended options, and continue. Select the Full scan Enable Eset to detect and quarantine potentially unwanted applications Click StartScan The program will begin to download it's virus database. The speed may vary depending on your Internet connection. When completed, the program will begin to scan. This may take several hours. Please, be patient. Do not do anything on your machine as it may interrupt the scan. When completed it'll show a list of "Threats found", click beneath it on Save to text file.... and save it as ESET log.txt on your Desktop. Then click Do not clean. Place a checkmark at Delete application's data on close, click Finish and close the program. Post the ESET log.txt report. Don't forget to re-enable previously switched-off protection software!! Akilli Posted December 21, 2023 Author ID:1606664 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Hey! Sorry it took me a while, but here's the log.ESET log.txt One thing though, I did not see a "Do not clean" button, i assumed it might've been in the next panel after pressing continue but it was not. There was a "Delete applications data on close" check though. Hope that first one doesn't cause any issues.
JSntgRvr Posted December 21, 2023 ID:1606678 Share Posted December 21, 2023 This infection is considered a Backdoor Trojan. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files. I would counsel you, if you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation. Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Dr.Web CureIt! Please download the Dr.Web CureIt! anti-virus utility https://free.drweb.com/ You will need to send them an email to obtain a link to download the scanner, please do so The downloaded file will normally have a unique name such as: q7a9tr4p.exe Close all open applications and locate the downloaded file and double-click to run it The program will take a moment to launch and bring up the License and Update screen Place a check mark to agree to the terms and then click on the Continue button Click the underlined link Select objects for scanning On the top left click the Scanning objects that should automatically check all objects Click the small wrench and make sure there is a check on Automatically apply actions to threats Then click the large button on bottom right Start scanning Once the scan has completed there will be a link named Open report click that and a log named cureit.log should open in Notepad The log is saved in the folder named Doctor Web in the top of your user profile folders Please attach that log on your next reply
