Virut Virus...

Recommended Posts

So I have been removing viruses off of machines for a little while now, and I have learned alot on how to beat those buggers and get them off. Not very often do I run into a virus or malware I cannot remove, except for one.. AVG catches this, and it appears to be a "File-Patching" Virus, which I know it replicates itself depending on what it is written to do.. According to AVG its called VIRUT Virus, and after trying the AVG rmvirut tool and using Malwarebytes, SUPER anti-Spyware, Spybot S&D, Hijack This, Windows Defender, and Windows Malicious software tool, I was unable to remove it still. And anything I copied off and tried to clean was still infected with this. Of course this was before I found ComboFix, which it a rather good program, and I am unaware if it is able to run and/or remove the program. I currently have my friends computer infected with this VIRUT virus. I don't have any logs from those programs Ive named, but I can get a Malwarebytes log.. So, to make a long story short, does anyone have any information or thoughts on how to remove this virus? I sure as hell would like to know!! :)

Hi,

When Virut is game, it's unfortunately a lost case - Game over situation and a format and reinstall is the fastest and especially the safest solution.

You may want to read this why:

Virut and other File infectors - Throwing in the Towel?

So, I suggest you to start backup all of your valuable data/documents/pictures/movies/songs/etc.. Do NOT backup any applications/installers and Do NOT backup any .exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar files...

This because these files may be infected as well. If you back them up and replace them afterwards, it will infect your computer again.
