Infected, or something else?

I've had AVG for years, so I doubt that's the problem...maybe I didn't explain it well, but the clock slows down because the computer itself slows down. When it becomes unresponsive, the clock also freezes. When it suddenly starts to work again, the clock will snap to the correct time as the computer tries to catch up and do the last action you attempted. That's why I had such a hard time running those tests and such, because the computer can't seem to do anything for very long. It takes hours to do simple things. I have no idea what happened...

Try to remove programs you no longer use. Then perform a Clean Boot on Windows VISTA. Follow the instructions on the following link.

How to Clean Boot Windows 10, 8, 7, and Vista? (manageengine.com)

Test the computer on a Clean Boot and see if it improves. If it does, you will need to troubleshoot the installation by selecting Services or applications running in the background disabled during the Clean boot. Select these services and applications on groups, until you have identified the service or application producing the issue.

As far as Malware, I see no issues in the computer.

Keep me posted.
