I am in a bit of a panic as don't want to lose the prices, so if anyone can help really quickly.....I'd owe you one.

This is the best price I have ever seen.. I can get 2 years for 3 devices for 99 AUD.. I am just wondering if I can somehow add it to my current plan and devices!

Is there any way to do that?>

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.

There is only 13 hours on the sale to go so will take a risk then ask them to use it as an extension and fingers crossed.

Hmm my sub expires at the worst possible time.. I think the only course of action I will have between the April expiry and November is to use Defender for those 7 months till BF comes around again, and then buy a new sub then and it will always expire at around the same time after that.

I hate to be without it for 7 months, and they don't offer a pay by month plan for those 7 months, so....

They make it very difficult as with almost all other AV you can buy a key and not activate it till you are ready and it just adds the time valid for the key.

Too risky to spend 100 bucks and I will never get a reply in time so will talk to them in the meantime and see if I can do it next year which will be 6 months until expiration.

I'd love to have 3 years on it and not worry about it for such a long time, really suits me with those sale prices right now. Oh well.

I don't know if the same works here at Malwarebytes, but:

With CCleaner you can purchase a new licence and then contact support and ask for a 'licence merge', they will merge your old and new licences into one adding the remaining times on each together so that you don't lose time.
It is deliberatly done like that so that existing users can take advantage of sales and deals such as Black Friday.
It's also handy when people purchase CCleaner twice by mistake, that happens more than you might think.
(At CCleaner that merge happens automatically if you purchase from the same email and there are less than 90 days left on the old licence, but if more than 90 days or you use a different email then you have to ask support).

As I say I don't know if Malwarebytes runs the same system, but it may be worth a gamble to find out?
At the worst you would lose the 5 months remaining on your existing licence, (you'd be double licenced for 5 months), but as the Black Friday deal is cheap anyway that loss gets offset by the reduction.
At the best if they do merge the licences/times remaining then you don't lose anything.
In eiher case you will then be aligned with future Black Fridays.

I hear you and with 5 months left I would have indeed done that, but the license expires April 2025. I was hoping to take it through to April 2027. As said, plenty of time to talk to them and see if I can do it at next year's BF sale. I can only hope they do this price again, and with inflation and cost of living there is no guarantee.. I CAN in fact renew my license for another year, in my MWB account for, 190 AUD. For one year. Hence why I wanted to take advantage of this price. Heck, I'd buy 4 years if they'd  let me, till 2029!

Cheers and happy Thanksgiving.

Ah sorry, with you talking about losing 7 months I thought that you meant April 2024.

TBH though if your current licence is good until April 2025 then why worry about it now? Look for deals nearer to the expiration time.

PS. I'm in the UK so we don't do Thanksgiving, but thanks anyway and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Also Merry Christmas, Happy new year, or whichever are your own cultural  celebrations.

  • 3 weeks later...

Sorry just saw your message as had somehow missed it entirely. Just wanted to say thank you for your good wishes. Merry Christmas is fine:) We celebrate it, most do here in Australia.

We don't have a thanksgiving either, but we sure like the online specials!

Just wanted to wish the best to you also!

Reason I try grab deals is because Aussie dollar continuously weakening so if there's a really good deal will go for it. Hopefully next year anyway.

@TheodoreM I got official info they are not allowing the specials to be added to any existing subscriptions.

Shame that.

Of course each company sets it's own sales policies, and special offer sales are meant to attract new customers.

But if you look at it another way then that could be seen as disadvantaging existing, loyal, customers.
ie. They can't take full advantage of special offers without losing what they have already paid for.
There again they may be offered loyalty discounts, but that tends not to happen with most of the auto-renewing subscription models.

(A canny buyer will grab a Black Friday deal for whatever software they are buying anyway, and cancel any auto-renewing subscription. Then when it comes to expire after 12 months it will be Black Friday time  again).

Well then they could do it by not forcing instant activation. But they do that too.

Now for sure I know they are the only AV company doing this by the way, all others let you use license keys when you want.

I am having a huge issue with Kaspersky where it is slowing down large file copies on Gen 4 SSD to HDD speeds and I had to uninstall it so have used my last MWB license in the time being but I am gutted cause I really liked Kaspersky. It was an update and never had an issue with it for months until then. But 200 mb/s copies is ludicrous. I hadn't changed any settings, it just happened one day after an update.

And the price makes Malwarebytes look silly in comparison for what's on offer. I paid 60 AUD for 2 years for 5 seats and soon after I saw it for even less than that but I just left it be, but it was something like 38 AUD from Amazon.

That said, I see stuff like this in general online, loyal customers being punished whilst new customers paying less, and boy does it rub me the wrong way.

If MWB do the special again next Thanksgiving, it makes more sense in my case to sacrifice 6 months of a current license as it still works out way cheaper. But my point is I shouldn't have to.

I see now this is why companies also limit the years one can buy - they want to get you on the renewal prices. First thing I do is disable auto renewal for any software I buy, instantly.

BTW, this has been my issue with MWB from day one, the pricing. It's champagne prices for comparatively beer features. No microphone or webcam protection, no outbound firewall, etc. I think besides the idiotic products like Norton, MWB might be THE most expensive.

They charge full internet security suite prices and they don't even try to compete with features, but I always begrudgingly come back to it cause it gives me the least issues overall. If they actually made it a full suite one day, in the one app, I think I'd finally be satisfied and stop looking elsewhere and maybe even put up with the prices. Who knows. But I must admit I have tried everything now and Kaspersky was the only other one that gave my system no grief - until that update. Gaming frame rates are better with Kaspersky though, there's never any game conflicts like there is with MWB where I am constantly having to add game install folders as exceptions, so, there's that.

no outbound firewall

Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control.

If you can find an authorized vendor like Amazon or New Egg, the keys are not active until activated in the program.

separate apps, I think I covered that.

It's not an all in one.. and now they have added another app to the mix with the exploit protection.

Kaspersky is one icon on my taskbar vs 3

1 app for everything

In any case, I use glasswire. WFC is more powerful but so much more complex. With glasswire it's a simple on/off button to use the two features I need. App net blocking, or outbound net requests for new apps. And the learning is awesome. I can run my system in auto mode so no windows processes get requests, then enable outbound alerts and it will only activate on actual new installed apps. It's the closest I have come to little snitch alternative on Windows, but nothing will ever replace LS on Mac.
