ppzcorea Posted October 22, 2023 ID:1596254 Share Posted October 22, 2023 After manual malwarebyte inspection, a symptom of memory increasing abnormally was discovered.
Staff Scottmh Posted October 23, 2023 Staff ID:1596357 Share Posted October 23, 2023 Hi @ppzcorea thanks for the information. In order for us to investigate, can you please provide us some info? What were you doing prior to these screen shots? Do you have the timespan for the high memory usage? Can you provide the MBAM service log? Also, if you could run the Support tool and provide those logs it would be helpful as well: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbst Thanks for your assistance! Staff Scottmh Posted October 24, 2023 Staff ID:1596518 Share Posted October 24, 2023 Thank you for the logs! Could you respond to these two questions also? What were you doing prior to these screen shots? Do you have the timespan for the high memory usage?
ppzcorea Posted October 24, 2023 Author ID:1596528 Share Posted October 24, 2023 I was running a Malwarebyte custom scan and the memory was loading abnormally.
Staff Scottmh Posted October 25, 2023 Staff ID:1596664 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Great, thanks for all of the information. I will provide this to Dev so that they can investigate, and will get back to you when we have something to report.
Staff icolcear Posted October 26, 2023 Staff ID:1596862 Share Posted October 26, 2023 @ppzcorea Was this apparent "RAM bug" while a scan was running? Or was it observed after the scan was already finished?
ppzcorea Posted October 27, 2023 Author ID:1596946 Share Posted October 27, 2023 The moment the scan started, the memory increased by more than 1GB and freezing occurred. After that, even after the scan was completed, the UI froze slightly and it took a long time to complete. It felt like there was a delay.
Staff icolcear Posted October 27, 2023 Staff ID:1596989 Share Posted October 27, 2023 After further investigation, we think this is expected behavior while running the scan. 1.2 GB of RAM on MBAMService during a scan is not really out of the ordinary from our testing. It is very possible that the machine you have installed MB5 on has lower power hardware, and it's resources get used up pretty quickly, resulting in a choppy experience throughout the OS, not just MB5 UI. It would help to confirm or deny this theory if you told us your computer's specs (CPU/RAM). I suggest enabling this setting if you're on a slower machine, as it should improve your experience:
