System tray pop-up offset to middle of screen

Recommended Posts

My taskbar is on the left side of my screen with the system tray icons at the lower left. Previously, the Malwarebytes popup notifications, such as the notification that a scheduled scan had completed, would appear next to the taskbar from the lower left, where the system tray icons are. Recently, the popups have been occurring around the middle of my screen instead. It would be as if I shifted my taskbar to the middle of the screen.

I haven't changed my screen resolution, nor do I have multiple monitors. Can anyone advise if there's something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

I have similar issue, but for me the Malwarebytes Premium system tray detection warning popup appears below my Windows 10 Task Bar (slightly on top of it). I have a dual monitor setup and the left monitor is my main monitor and the right monitor is a side monitor, both are horizontal, Task bar is located bottom of the screen, always visible on Desktop. The Malwarebytes Premium system tray detection warning popup appears on top of the notification area on my right monitor (secondary monitor). It's the only such popup which appears there, as my Windows 10 notification area is on the left side main monitor. The popup appears slightly on top of the Task bar where I can only see it is a Malwarebytes Premium popup and the X-button to close it. Everything else is below the Task bar outside the monitor (below).

Same thing. It's also been posted here a few times. Malwarebytes is the only application doing this and the staff are too busy adding more ads/promotions/testimonies to the app to care

Can we please get logs for this issue to help us check on it. I have a 2nd monitor but so far I've not run into this issue.

Same problem. I can only see the title of the warning window. Most of the window is below the bottom edge on the rhs of the screen. The screen is my secondary screen. The window always used to pop up in the left bottom of my primary screen, but was fully visible.  I hope that the bug will soon be fixed because I cannot see what I am being warned about.

I believe the current beta should correct this issue. Please update to the latest beta version and if needed restart the computer and test again and let us know

I haven't posted in this thread previously but I was having similar isssues (no notifications, even as everything else was working fine, scans were running without a hitch and on schedule, MWB was updating, et cetera). Win11 on a laptop, with two external monitors connected via a dock.

The beta update fixed it for me, notifications appearing like they used to and located on the main monitor. Thanks for getting it fixed.

Thank you. I have enabled beta upgrades. The version now installed is 4.6.6.294, package 1.0.77110, componet package 1.0.2201. Is this the beta that you hope will fix the bug? I will let you know if I see a correctly positioned warning window.

I move from Chrome to Firefox a few days and note that a known malware website which used to show up a warning no longer does so. But if I access that website using Chrome, there is a warning pop-up which is visible bottom left primary screen. Not sure why the malvertising website is not picked up by MB when using FF.
