MalwareBytes won't open, support tool freezing, cannot uninstall

Recommended Posts

This is driving me crazy, I need help. I installed MalwareBytes and it offered me a free premium trial period. I clicked on the free trial button then the program froze for half an hour. I ended up closing it because it was clearly frozen, and after that Malwarebytes would not open up at all. I tried rebooting my system.

At that point, I downloaded the support tool and ran 'repair', but the tool froze on 'saving settings'. I left it running for half an hour, same thing. I shut down the tool and re installed/rebooted TWICE and tried it again and got the same result. Infinite freezing.

I reinstalled the support tool and clicked on 'clean' instead. It has been running for over 20 minutes and seems to be doing nothing.

I want to remove this program from my laptop.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you
