NewTricks Posted September 19, 2023 ID:1590031 Share Posted September 19, 2023 About 3 weeks ago,I noticed that when I used the Privacy and Security tab to clear cookies, website cache data, that 4.6 MB is routinely left in the website cache.. Before that, it consistently showed 0 MB. My daily method after browsing for specific subjects is to immediately clear History, then go to Settings, the Privacy/ Security Tab and clear cookies, website cache using the Clear button. Now something is happening to prevent that. Is it possible to diagnose? Thank you.

NewTricks Posted September 21, 2023 Author ID:1590513 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Thank you for the steps. Office 365 uses Microsoft OneDrive and it's bundled into the remote access account I have with the college. I am not confident I'll make it all the way through, but I will do my best and check back if/when I get stuck.
NewTricks Posted September 21, 2023 Author ID:1590525 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Am I in the right place? I really don't want to go into router settings, but if that's the best way, I will try to do that. I get the main idea from the video, but he's using Win10, I have 11 and the network icon on my taskbar does not show those options.
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 21, 2023 Root Admin ID:1590528 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Yes, that is the right location for Windows 11 (not my favorite method but that's what the overlords at Microsoft have decided home users should use) I have to run an errand so will be back a bit later to assist. Make that change and restart the computer please Get me a new set of logs for review

Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted September 22, 2023 Root Admin ID:1590607 Share Posted September 22, 2023 The log did not show a NEW Restore Point being created manuallly Please run the following Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Or if you still have the Farbar program you can use that Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer. Press the Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well. Thank you
NewTricks Posted September 22, 2023 Author ID:1590613 Share Posted September 22, 2023 I created a restore point (unfortunately) after the log. I'm done for the evening now, aside from using my phone. Tomorrow, I'll follow up with Farbar. Today was bi-monthly scan/backup day. If what I'll be doing tomorrow negates that, let me know & I'll repeat. Thanks. Root Admin Solution AdvancedSetup Posted September 22, 2023 Root Admin Solution ID:1590616 Share Posted September 22, 2023 Great, now that you have a Full backup, please run the following when you're able to Please run the following fix NOTE: Please read all of the information below before running this fix. NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system that cannot be undone. Once the fix has been completed, please attach the file FIXLOG.TXT to your next reply Farbar program: FRSTEnglish.exe Save the attached file: FIXLIST.TXT to this folder C:\Users\SNAFU\Downloads\ NOTE. It's important that both files, FRSTEnglish.exe, and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work. Please make sure you disable any real-time antivirus or security software before running this script. Once completed, make sure you re-enable it. Run the Farbar program with Admin rights and press the Fix button just once and wait. The fix may possibly take up to 60 minutes to complete If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart. The tool will make a log named Fixlog.txt in the same folder you ran the Farbar program from. Please attach that log on your next reply. NOTE: This fix will run a scan to check that all Microsoft operating system files are valid and not corrupt and attempt to correct any invalid files. It will also run a disk check on the restart to ensure disk integrity. NOTE: As part of this fix all temporary files will be removed. If you have any open web pages that have not been bookmarked please make sure you bookmark them now as all open applications may be automatically closed. Also, make sure you know the passwords for all websites as cookies may possibly be removed in some cases, but not all cases. NOTE: As part of this fix, it will also reset the network to default settings including the firewall. If you have custom firewall rules you need to save please export or save them first before running this fix. The following directories are emptied: Windows Temp Users Temp folders Edge, IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera caches, HTML5 storages, Cookies and History Recently opened files cache Discord cache Java cache Steam HTML cache Explorer thumbnail and icon cache BITS transfer queue (qmgr*.dat files) Recycle Bin Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix. The system will be rebooted after the fix has run. fixlist.txt Thanks
NewTricks Posted September 22, 2023 Author ID:1590751 Share Posted September 22, 2023 (edited) 3rd edit: 🙃 still upbeat, it's gonna happen. Will repeat for a different better result. Nope, same result. The FRST.txt and Addition.txt are both together in my download loader. (today) The exe file is in downloads (yesterday) When I try to run that FIX, a message says the fixlist.txt should be in the same folder/director the tool is located. I see that FRST and addition are only the beginning. Then I have to FIX, and attach that log. Where am I going off track here? Thanks FRST.txt Addition.txt Edited September 22, 2023 by NewTricks now confused
