Malwarebytes Privacy blocking Synology Assistant from discovering NAS

Please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your system.

Please restart the computer and do the following.

WARNING: Do Not click the Repair option under Advanced unless requested by a Malwarebytes support agent or authorized helper

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained are safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to the Public desktop (usually C:\Users\Public\Desktop), please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you for the reply.

I have run the support tool as you suggested. Having looked through the results I'm not happy to send that information. There is a huge amount of info there that can have no relevance to my issue. 

When I search on the forum here there is reference to problems with Malwarebytes and the synology assistant program going back to 2020 and before.

Sorry, we can't assist you here without those logs. Only staff and authorized members will have access.

Please contact our support team at https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to get help with your issue if you do not want to provide logs here.

Please submit only one ticket/request. Additional tickets will increase the delay.

Be advised it can take 3-7 weekdays for a response after the automated reply with your ticket number.

A brief afterword:

I followed your link to the malwarebytes support webpage. This resulted in a spam and bruteforce notice and I was unable to access the page. I was using malwarebytes privacy and the ip address that was blocked was one of Malwarebytes own ip addresses!! This does not inspire confidence in a product that, over the years,  I have spent  a not inconsiderable amount of money on.

I think those services block all vpn use. I’m taking about a paid vpn service using blacklisted ips, in this case blacklisted by their own website.

Look, I know nothing is perfect but I was commenting on the irony of me being blocked using an ip address by the company which I am paying to provide that very ip address.
