Possible email spoofing?

GenK

Recommended Posts

Not a biggie but if you look at the screenshot I provided, you'll notice that I received an email from what appears to be a real, legitimate address. It is, however, definitely a spam or scam email. I suppose I shouldn't be concerned because these things happen all the time and I can always ignore the message. However, the address is valid and it's actually used by Google, which is fairly perplexing. Is it just a forged address...or what happened here?

I know this could be an overreaction, but I changed my email password just in case.

Hello @GenK

Screenshots are not really helpful.  It obfuscates many details.

If you can please extract a RAW Text copy of the Full Headers and Body of the email in .EML Format I can take a look and see if it is real or fake.

Your privacy will be protected.

Please extract the RAW Text copy of the Full Headers and Body of the email in .EML Format and place it in a ZIP, RAR or 7z Archive and attach that Archive in your reply.
