Hi to all first time user here. I am wondering what happens if a message about the AFP virus scam (UKASK) shows up as it did on my laptop about a week ago. I have not used my laptop since then. Used my phone to locate malwarebytes and hitman pro websites and was about to do the restore/recovery command prompt as instructed, Turned on my laptop expecting to be lockked out BUT it started as normal. WHY DO I NOT HAVE THE VIRUS??? I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE HITMAN PRO APPLICATION & THE MALWAREBYTES ANITVIRUS PROGRAMS RAN THEM BOTH AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. IS IT BECAUSE THE VIRUS DETECTED THE ANTIVIRUS AND SOME HOW HID ITSELF OR IS IT JUST NOT IN MY SYSTEM. SHOULD I TRY TRON SECURITY SOFTWARE & RUN THAT TO CHECK MY SYSTEM. CAN anyone help me understand what is going on my is my laptop infected or not. Thank you to all if someone can help me understand what has happened.

G'day David Thank you for your inquiry. Those screen shots are what came up on my screen when I clicked onto a link I believed to be safe and as I quickly scanned through these and freaked out after reading a part that said I had 48 hrs to pay the fine which was $300 or they were starting some sort of criminal case against me I just shut down my laptop and left it for almost a week give or take a day. Now as you can see these screenshots are taken from malwaretips written by: Stelian Pilici Published on:February 16, 2013  web site page as I typed in on my phone "how to remove afp virus lock (Ukask) from my laptop / computer and found their site and was following their instructions about how to start in safe mode with command prompts option/method 2. I turned on my laptop begun tapping F8 some command prompt box came up but this was all in normal mode as far as I can tell. What I am wondering is if the virus the people who made this crap so many years ago and its still around could they have made it more sophisticated and have it hide on to a computer or laptop when an anti-virus starts up, and the pplk at malware said to download hitman pro and the other malware scanner from a clean computer, why is that because it would not be able to download anything from the infected computer i think i just answered my own question there lol. Thats all i have sorry I don't know what else to say other then can it be on my system even after running hitman pro and malware scan and should i get the TRON software and run that. thanks again for your time and expertise much appreciated.

That attack type is old and I have not seen it in years.

Do you feel you are infected at this time by something?

This is what is called a FakeAlert as they are fraudulently alerting you to a state, condition or event that does not exist.  In this case they are masquerading as Law Enforcement (LE).  While your screenshots do not show a URL they are web pages.  They are not indicative of being infected.  These web pages are a type of Malicious Advertisement (aka; malvertisement).  Malwarebytes Browser Guard is good at dynamically blocking such content.  The Malwarebytes Anti Malware Software (not really an anti virus ) will need to know the URL of the site hosting the malvertising  content to block.

Below are samples of US, Polish and Russian LE FakeAlerts:

Thanks for your help with this David I appreciate all you have done. Those screenshots were of cause from another site as from when they appeared on my screen and I quickly scimmed through it I immediately turned off my laptop and did not get to take pictures of the actual screen but the screen shoots I provided are exactly the same as what appeared on my laptop. I now feel as if I am not infected but either way I  have installed malwarebytes virus scan & removal and browser guard along with hitman pro and alert with my other Max security program which I did have on at the time but as stated in malwarebytes they don't cover everything and it good to have something like malwarebytes that takes care of the extra bits over looked. So again much appreciation to you and the team at Malwarebytes.

Porthos as I said the screenshots were from a different site to give you an idea of what was/had happened and yes you are correct they are very old. I turned my laptop of pretty much straight away and I KNOW THAT DOES NOTHING TO STOP ANYTHING IF I WAS INFECTED but I am not that technically minded on computers I don't have to much to do with them which is why I reached out here. I do not feel as if I am infected & have installed malwarebytes virus scan and Removal and browser guard along with Hitman pro. I'm not totally clueless. Yet we all specialise in our own environment. So thank you for replying and inquiring to give me a hand just be careful how you write things or even speak to people in real life, things can be taken the wrong way very easily and uneducated, uncontrolled people tend to use violence as their only form of communication not just physically but verbally and mentally. Anyway thanks again stay safe. Brains or Brawn separate have pro and cons together they can and are almost instoppable unless what??? Peace. Not the answer. Lol Thanks Again.

I am sorry but I do not see how anything I posted can be considered a threat or violence in any way.

I asked if you have any concerns about still being infected as we have a section here where trained malware removal experts can assist you in checking out the computer to make sure it is clean and safe.
