One Second Scan

I recently bought a new MacBook, and since I got it, the scans have changed from about 45 seconds to 1 second.  Did something change?  Is Malware not scanning the entire computer?  Not sure why the change.

It does not scan the entire computer. It does a "threat" scan which can be very fast.

I'm not very tech-savvy....did the scanning approach change, or just less to scan on the new laptop?

Probably both. Less to scan and a newer faster system than you had in the past along with the fact that it has never done full disk scans, only threat scans.

The initial scan time with an up-to-date Malwarebytes for Mac product on an Apple M1/M2 arm64 equipped device may run from less than a minute to likely less than two minutes. But once the MBAM cache has been scan established/replenished, subsequent scans quite nearly always are less than ≈10 seconds.

That explains a lot.  Plus I did have "stuff" that wasn't transferred to the new laptop....in fact, in the original transfer, my Malwarebytes was left off.
