Transcend Dual USB 10Gbps Portable SSD - ESD310C 1TB drive

So I went ahead and bought one of the Transcend Dual USB 10Gbps Portable SSD - ESD310C 1TB drives after some prompting in the BSOD forum where @NewTricks was seeking help. A recommendation for a different Transcend from @axe0 but got me checking others.

It actually is one of the fastest USB thumb drives I've ever tested and has a 5 year limited warranty

 

 

 

 

The drive came per-formatted with exFAT so I tested with that before formatting to NTFS

 

Using ATTO Disk Bench marking software

All tests were made using the USB Type-C connector

1st run - you can see there are some sizes that seem to give it a hiccup, 256KB was one of them.

2nd run - you can see a couple other spots gave it a hiccup

 

 

I then formatted the drive to NTFS and copied about 27GB of data to the drive

 

Overall it copied at about 725 MB/s sustained and completed the copy in just under 30 seconds.

1st run with NTFS - as you can see it still has some kind of hiccup with certain sizes during the test

 

2nd run - this run was much more stable and didn't really have the hiccup anymore

 

Overall, so far in just a couple of hours playing with the drive I like it. It pretty much works as advertised unlike many others I've tested in the past.

One thing I don't like is the covers are on too lose. In a short period of time I'm sure the caps will be lost. Having a tad stronger pull force to remove would be nice.

I've linked to the software I used for testing, but in my case, just watching the 27GB be copied to the drive so quickly was proof enough it's fast.

You might have to wait until I regain consciousness after falling off my chair. Not sure there is a family friendly drooling emoji, but that comes to mind.

In fact, I'm thinking of getting TWO, one for now, one for later.

Just want to say that I've tested this on my car and it works fantastic for me

I was able to play .MP3  .MP4   .MKV   of both Music files as well as Movie files. The player also supports Play Lists

I downloaded a Best of Dolby Vision HDR   12K 60FPS video from YouTube at 22GB and it plays on the car media player with no issues.

 

With these features and speed I will be letting my XM Radio subscription expire. My only regret is that I didn't look into using something like this much sooner. Thank you for the prompting @David H. Lipman

Creating a Play List from MS-DOS command prompt

dir /a-d /b /s >allsongs.m3u

Then remove the drive letter, colon, and back slash of each line and edit where, how you want to play. Create different lists for different moods, etc.
