Malwarebytes android downloading massive amounts of data to my phone

I got up this morning and turned on my phone to find out that I've used 151GB of data  ... I'm supposed to stay under 50GB per month on my plan.

Further inspection shows that malwarebytes has pulled down 71.6GB already today ... and the day is only 5 hours old.

All of this seems to have started yesterday when MWB pulled down 45.3GB (according to glasswire)  It appears to have started between 6 and 9pm Monday evening (15.1GB during that time period) up from 2.8MB from 3pm to 6pm.

I've blocked MWB from accessing the network via glasswire for now and have attached a number of screen grabs from glasswire and my settings/connections page for data usage.

Please advise as to what might be causing this and how to proceed.
