You were scammed by a remote support scammer. Did you give them remote access to your computer?

Did you call them (WHY) or did you get a call from them?

I paid for 2 years and feel comfortable with that—but what should I do about BytesAnalyzer?

You need to contact your credit card company and request a refund.

Not long after, Malwarebytes, which I have used for years, told me my annual payment was due.

Did you have a premium license to Malwarebytes BEFORE they "assisted" you?

Is this a scam operation? I think I've been had! They said they are an affiliate of Malwarebytes. But Malwarebytes says they don’t have any affiliates.

I checked out their website and it looked legit. Then I paid a “lifetime” fee and signed a contract with them.  Foolish me!  Not long after, Malwarebytes, which I have used for years, told me my annual payment was due. I paid for 2 years and feel comfortable with that—but what should I do about BytesAnalyzer?

Anyone out there who can tell me how to get out of this mess?

How did you pay? Credit card?

If yes, what was the name of the company that received payment.  Bytes Analyzer is not in  the New York Business registry.

Please answer @Porthos questions.

Answers to Porthos' questions:

Q: Did you give them remote access to your computer?  A: Yes, I believe it was via; GoToAssist Customer (1720).app, modified on 2.3.2   I had given them access before that, as I had been dealing with them at least since September 16, 2022 when I paid them $244.99.  Since then I have paid a total of 3 more invoices, for a total of 4 payments adding up to $1744.96. I got a refund of $299.99 to my checking account on 5.19.23

Q: Did you call them (WHY) or did you get a call from them?  A: I called them to complain about charges on my credit card. They said they'd "made a mistake" on one of the charges, but the others were legit. I accepted their refund and accepted their reasoning for the other charges (in writing...Dumb!)

Q: You need to contact your credit card company and request a refund. A: Not sure I can do this, after what I attested to.

Q: Did you have a premium license to Malwarebytes BEFORE they "assisted" you?  A: I'm not sure. I've had some kind (maybe free) for about 10 years.

Thank You,

Excessive.  You could have bought a new computer.

Contact PayPal and find our who is behind the recipient PayPal account and file a complaint with the FTC.

You and Porthos are of great help to me!  I called PayPal customer service and was told they are not allowed to give out recipient PayPal account info. I plan to file a complaint with the FTC later today.  Here's one of the email contacts I had with bytes analyzer:

Here’s what I have by way of contact with bytes analyzer.  Prior to 9.22.22, I don’t remember how I started with them. "Sam" has been my contact with them.

I hope you’ll help me get my iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro to work together with mail, contacts, notes, memos, photos, messages, and more.

I enrolled in your service because, after years without problems, I couldn’t get Alexa to play FM radio.  Ella, and then, Sam worked with me for several hours, finally getting the Sonos App to respond, as my speaker is an older Sonos player.  It worked fine for about a day, but now doesn’t respond to “Hey, Sonos”  I can get it to work perfectly by using the Sonos app on my iPhone.
 What’s up with that?

For my syncing needs:
My iPad model is iPad mini 2, model # ME280LL/A,  serial #F9FT5

My iPhone is model 7,  software version 15.5, model # MN8G2LLA1660, serial #77Q…(couldn’t bring up the remaining numbers)

My MacBook Pro is running Monterey version 12.5.1
It’s a Retina 15 inch, Mid 2015,  Processor 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7,  Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3,
Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Serial # C0

Are all my devices just plain too old? Other than syncing, they seem to work fine.

Thanks for your help.
