Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Root Admin ID:1569245 Share Posted Friday at 04:24 PM Hello @JoelS Do you have a current subscription for Malwarebytes Privacy VPN ? The current log shows that it is not licensed. Link to post
JoelS Posted Friday at 07:28 PM Author ID:1569284 Share Posted Friday at 07:28 PM Yes, I have a license. It comes up in about two months. After re-installation, it works. So a good first question is how did the licensing information become corrupted? Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted Friday at 08:18 PM Root Admin ID:1569290 Share Posted Friday at 08:18 PM Not really sure what happened @JoelS For reference if needed Deactivate device from your Malwarebytes subscription https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038522574-Deactivate-or-transfer-your-Malwarebytes-license-key Activate & Manage License Key https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/sections/4416574967059-Activate-Manage-License-Key- Let's go ahead and do some clean-up work and remove the tools and logs we've run. Please download KpRm by kernel-panik and save it to your desktop. right-click kprm_(version).exe and select Run as Administrator. Read and accept the disclaimer. When the tool opens, ensure all boxes under Actions are checked. Under Delete Quarantines select Delete Now, then click Run. Once complete, click OK. A log will open in Notepad titled kprm-(date).txt. Please attach that file to your next reply. (not compulsory) Recommend using a Password Manager for all websites, etc. that require a password. Solution JoelS Posted Friday at 11:40 PM Author Solution ID:1569340 Share Posted Friday at 11:40 PM OK. KpRm deleted an old version of Farbar and a text file that I am pretty sure was completely innocuous, and did the rest of the socially beneficial stuff it does. Since I run MBytes (including the browser guard), have good password hygiene, avoid likely places to pick up malware, block as much content as possible without breaking sites, download only the minimum, and update everything not less than once a week (PatchMyPC only found some old C++ to update), I think I can say that that avenue is covered. As I mentioned, Privacy has been working ever since running MB Support. If I have further problems, I'll try uninstall/deactivate/reinstall. I hate to still not know what went wrong. 1 Link to post
