[ RESOLVED ] Safe to delete quarantine items?

Recommended Posts

Good day,

Recently MB has detected multiple threats all located inside windows / windows services which disabled my security defender and no longer avilabe to use. Beside that it impacted my CPU and GPU at booting and because of  "PUM" I assume it's crypto miner malware. After closing application of high consuptions with Task Manager everything seems to work normal.

However, this malwares are located deep into windows files which they got there as window thought they are updates for him and consumpt it there.

My question is: Is it safe to delete all infected files inside quarantene without make windows crashing and not starting again which is also know as Blue screen of death.

Be aware that I have very limited internet to download additional programs, files and updates.

Instead, I just need simple answer on following question:

Is it safe to delete quarantine items without harming my windows and make them not booting up again.

Thank you,

Rule of thumb is is wait two weeks.  If they are not False Positives and break software, Delete from quarantine.

The two week period is long enough to discern if they are indeed False Positives or break software.

Hey there,

Thanks for fast response.

Back into case. Can confirm they are Malwares for sure and they won't make any harm as long I'm not connected to internet on laptop because he can't process his implemented  scripts hoevwer he does consume CPU and GPU but as said after closing via Task Manager it stops.

I can keep infected files for 2 weeks in quarantine however can't tell if they are break softer or not, that's what is my concert.

If MB deletes windows.exe to terminate potential Malware I belive but not sure that he will also delete window himself and won't be able to start up again as he basically deleting part of windows and leaving gap by removing infected file and not replacing with another one.

Any advice what to do?

Thanks

Kind regards,

Wait two weeks.  You'll know if something breaks and you can look in the Quarantine if that is associated with what breaks you can restore it and and set to exclude in the future.

I can't 100% confirm if the are malware or not from a camera screenshot of a PC screen.  But what I see are  not applications that can break.

Wait the two weeks and then Delete anything in Quarantine that is two weeks old or older.
