Uninstalling Edge

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to uninstall Microsoft Edge from Windows 10 without using some 3rd party "uninstaller". I have tried all the tricks I could think of, but even when I get the uninstaller running, it errors out or doesn't do anything.

Just curious if it's even possible, short of deleting it manually or breaking Windows. Thanks

It's fine. MS really makes removing Edge hard.

It worked on an ancient Windows 10 VM, so maybe it's specific to newer versions of W10 or just my system

Thanks, but sadly those didn't work. I already don't use Edge and uninstalled Chrome, just Firefox (with MB browser guard and uBo of course). I'm not super invested in removing it, so not really a problem, I was just curious if there was a way.

Thank you both for your help

Never mind. That was from a couple years ago.

Why can't I uninstall Microsoft Edge?

Microsoft Edge is the web browser recommended by Microsoft and is the default web browser for Windows.
Because Windows supports applications that rely on the web platform, our default web browser is an essential component of our operating system and can’t be uninstalled.
To provide our users with compatibility, compliance, accessibility, and performance, we'll continue updating Microsoft Edge through the browser installer or Windows updates.

Microsoft Edge gives users full control over importing personal data from other browsers. In addition, Windows users can download and install other browsers and change their default browser at any time.

And is used to push BING and other Microsoft constructs and products in a monopolistic fashion.    [IMHO]

Sorry, for some reason the forum didn't notify me someone replied.

100% agree with you. I have Firefox set as my default browser, and M$ still tries their hardest to bully me into using Edge.

Thanks for all your help.
