Malwarebytes v4.5.24 and Smart Scan Option for Existing Scheduled Scans

Recommended Posts

I have a question regarding the new Smart Scan option introduced in MB v4.5.21 that only allows scheduled scan to start when the computer is in idle mode.

The release notes <here> for MB v4.5.21 (rel. 30-Jan-2023) said the new Smart Scan Feature was "on by default for all new scheduled scans", and my old 03-Feb-2023 image below confirms that Smart Scan was disabled in my existing daily Threat Scan as expected.

However, the release notes <here> for MB v4.5.24 (rel. 10-Mar-2024) now state in part :

Quote

 Features and improvements

    - Improved display logic for Real-Time Protection block notifications
    - Enabled Smart Scan for existing scheduled scans that are automatically created
    - Security improvements

After updating to MB Premium v4.5.24 I expected that Smart Scan would be enabled for my daily Threat Scan (the default scheduled scan created automatically for MB Premium), but it is still disabled.

What conditions must be met before Smart Scan is automatically enabled for an existing scheduled scan?  For example, would Smart Scan only be enabled if I performed a clean reinstall of Malwarebytes Premium that re-created my daily scheduled Threat Scan scan? Or should Smart Scan actually have been enabled for my existing daily Threat Scan after I updated to MB v4.5.24?

Bump.

Could @H4V0C or someone else from Malwarebytes explain what changes were made to Smart Scan in the current Malwarebytes v4.5.24 that differ from the way it behaved in v4.5.21 when it was first introduced?  Perhaps I just don't understand how "existing scheduled scans" are defined in the 10-Mar-2023 release notes <here> for v4.5.24.
