mit9 Posted February 5, 2023 ID:1553078 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Hi Team, I have 2021 office and have Malwarebytes premium subscription. Currently as I open MS Word, it shuts down immediately with Malwarebytes pop-up of Exploit.PayloadProcessBlock. I exported the detection to text. Please review and let me know what you think? I do not see this blocking behavior for Excel or Powerpoint, but it is seen when I open word App. error.txt
Porthos Posted February 5, 2023 ID:1553079 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Do you have the following setting enabled in the advanced exploit settings?
mit9 Posted February 5, 2023 Author ID:1553080 Share Posted February 5, 2023 Hi, yes the setting is enabled on my application, I tried disabling it and word opens fine. Now trying to understand the cause, why would the setting block Word App and not the other ones (Excel or Powerpoint)? Also, isn't is a false positive detection? That setting is specific to penetration testing (i.e. not actual threats) so enabling won't really do anything unless the system is tested using third party testing tools/test exploits. It is purely for testing purposes to verify that protection is working properly, however it is not needed for protecting your system from actual malware which is why it is turned off by default. I hope that helps to clarify things and if there is anything else we might help with please let us know.
