Malware won't run and can't install hijack this

Recommended Posts

I am running on XP. I have been trying to get rid of a NASTY virus for several days. I took advice (badley) from someone I trusted and perhaps made the problem worse.

I ran Combofix (probably the bad advice) and while it said it was removing a bunch of bad files once it got to the reboot it hung for hours and I had to finally hard boot. Now it has the combofix on there with what looks like clones of my drive. I am assuming this is a recovery drive of some type. I don't know how to remove this.

I think I may have a combination of viruses but can't run hijackthis or malwarebytes.

Can someone help? Not sure what else you would need to know to help me.

Symptoms:

No icons on desktop

Start command not there

system files won't run (sometimes)

can't boot in safe mode

I have to do everything from the task manager where I can then see my files.

Can anyone please help me <_<

I failed to mention, I read through the logs but couldn't find any posts that described by exact issue and I was afraid to try something posted if not instructed.
