Leaving Malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

Well i just wrote a big post complaining about Malwarebytes and when i clicked on submit it said there was some words containing spam and to delete them. The only thing was it didn't say what words.

I suppose they don't like complaints.

There no problems. You are free to make a complaint. The spam filter can be picky.

Smaller to the point post might work better.

Leaving Malwarebytes

I have Malwarebytes premium for a few years now and nether had no issues but now i do have a problem Malwarebytes is about as good as a chocolate kettle!
About a week ago i clicked onto Malwarebytes and got the message "unable to start,Unable to connect to service" since then i have tried numerous things to resolve this but to no avail. Used MB cleaner on there support tool, uninstalled then reinstalled nothing works.I am not a whizz kid but also i am not a technophobe.

Went to my account and turned off auto renewal to which i recieved an email saying.

Peace of mind: You don’t have to worry about online threats knowing your device is protected all the time. You won’t have to keep track of when to pay for your renewal subscription either!

Continuous protection: Enrolling in auto-renewal ensures that your subscription will never lapse. By keeping your subscription active, you get continuous protection from malware, ransomware, and other malicious threats.

Want to turn your auto-renew back on? Click here.

Please note that canceling your subscription does not refund your account. Your subscription started on 19/03/2018, and you will be able to access it until 19/03/2023.

Knowing your device is protected all the time, well thats a joke!

I have notified MB and have a ticket but still waiting on that also looked for a phone number but that looks like a usa number and i live in the uk.

If my broadband goes down and i can't rectify it i can phone them and they will talk me through what to do.Where is this from MB?
Just another company who want to sell you their product but where are they when something goes wrong?

Rant over!

Your original ticket was: 4130110 was created on Monday
That was merged into another ticket: 4132183 and was replied to today

The support agent replied to your ticket today asking for support logs to assist you in correcting the issue. Please follow up with them and I'm sure they can resolve your issue.

Thank you

It's now been sixteen days since i reported this problem.

I was issued a ticket number and have been going though different procedures with an agent from Malwarebytes. He has been helpful and friendly but this was the last email i had from him yesterday(20/01/23).

Hey Richard,

"So this is what I see each time anything tries to address the WMI:

2023-01-16 21:34:02 System 205956 Error Service Control Manager 7001 The Malwarebytes Service service depends on the Windows Management Instrumentation service which failed to start because of the following error:

The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process.

We are seeing the same kind of message with anything that Windows is trying to do with the WMI:

The service is started by the Local System account instead of the Local Service account (NT AUTHORITY\LocalService). The Local System account may have insufficient permissions to start the service.

This looks like it happened around or during the December 30th Windows Update.

At this point I've tried the only steps we can comfortably offer from Malwarebytes, you may need to contact Microsoft or you may want to consider reinstalling Windows on this machine."

I'm only up with basic computer skills so this stuff is beyond me.I know from what i've read online that i really do not want to reinstall windows.

Why is this affecting MB only and not my antivirus software which i have with someone else?

So i suppose the bottom line is that i'm vulnerable to malware now as i am not protected.

Although i still have two months left of my paid for subscription i'm now probably going to  look out for  antivirus/malware software from someone else.

Great, @Reynard

To begin, please do the following so that I can take a closer look at your installation for troubleshooting:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained are safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • In your Downloads folder, open the mb-support-x.x.x.xxx.exe file
  • In the User Account Control pop-up window, click Yes to continue the installation
  • Run the MBST Support Tool
  • In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced
  • In the Advanced Options, click Gather Logs. A status diagram displays the tool is Getting logs from your machine
  • A zip file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to the Public desktop, please upload that file on your next reply

Thank you @Reynard

No, Avast browser never. Bonjour Never. Avast free, your choice once we're done here but not yet.

Please get me a new set of logs please.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you
