Maurice Naggar Posted November 22, 2022 ID:1542907 Share Posted November 22, 2022 It is an awful amount of effort. I am a volunteer here. Going back a couple of your posts back ( earlier)....you mentioned that you did manage to get this machine booted up into a "Recovery Environment" Command prompt ??? Please clarify that !! On a different point, on this machine....does it automatically auto-Login ?? Do you not have to enter a PIN or a password when Windows starts? so, how did you manage to get to a Command prompt? Just so you know, I am not on all the time on this forum.
robmairguard Posted November 22, 2022 Author ID:1542913 Share Posted November 22, 2022 Yes I can get into the recovery environment.. no this pc needs the windows hello pin log in I can’t activate the built in admin account because I can’t get past the Lock Screen with more then a basic user account
Maurice Naggar Posted November 23, 2022 ID:1543012 Share Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) Can you possibly get a picture-image-copy of that "Lock / signin" screen. I believe you are overlooking a line just underneath that can be useful. NOTE: If that screen has some personal information ( such as your email) then do not post it here, but rather send it to me by personal message. And again, I hope you are selecting "Safe Mode with Networking" from the advanced boot options. Study this article at Elevenforum about special startup (s), especially options FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN https://www.elevenforum.com/t/boot-to-advanced-startup-winre-in-windows-11.425/ Also, as long as this machine has startup issues....keep in mind to press & keep holding the SHIFT-key on keyboard at the point you choose the Restart and keep holding thru all the start process. This should keep Windows from auto-starting ( auto-loading) some auto-started applications. Maurice Naggar Posted November 24, 2022 ID:1543120 Share Posted November 24, 2022 Hello. We will get to the issue of Malwarebytes aborting on a later round. The Farbar FRST do not show a malware infection. Which should be exactly the norm after a clean new Windows setup. By the way, Microsoft Defender antivirus is reported to be Enabled and running. First, take care of this next matter. Current DNS Servers: 192.168.1.1 Please consider changing your default DNS Server settings. Maurice Naggar Posted November 25, 2022 ID:1543215 Share Posted November 25, 2022 Any irregularities do not make sense. Was this machine purchased at retail as a new computer? Did you delete all partitions before starting a clean new setup of Windows ? https://bit.ly/3UfU45i https://www.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-install-windows-11

Maurice Naggar Posted November 26, 2022 ID:1543305 Share Posted November 26, 2022 A. You should make a request with the Support of the computer-manufacturer to check about just how to get a Factory Restore operation, or how they go about getting Windows O.S. back to first-day-condition. This machine looks to be a ASUS brand. See https://www.asus.com/us/support/ there is a section near bottom "Contact us" They can be a big help on getting back the Windows Operating system that was sold & licensed with the machine. B.See if you can get a couple of screen-grabs. Open an elevated Command-prompt window by these next sequence . On the Taskbar Search box, type in cmd.exe click the line for "run as administrator" It is best to use the Windows Copy ( CTRL+ C ) and paste ( CTRL+V ) for the whole line, as-is On that Command-prompt, Copy & Paste this command slmgr /dlv press Enter-key on keyboard . Get a screen-grab & attach on next reply. On the Command-prompt, Copy & Paste this command WINVER press Enter-key on keyboard . Get a screen-grab & attach on next reply.

Maurice Naggar Posted November 27, 2022 ID:1543339 Share Posted November 27, 2022 Those screen grabs report a Windows 11 PRO edition installed. So any mention of hypervisor or a VM, I dont seem to see that here.

Solution Maurice Naggar Posted November 30, 2022 Solution ID:1543910 Share Posted November 30, 2022 (edited) It appears to me that there is a wee little bit of too much poking about. Pardon my frank expression. This all is poking about where there is no need for that, at all. This is a normal Windows Operating system. The MSINFO report is normal stuff. 😃 The other screen grabs are also normal ( but the poking about on the Command prompt wit the Net command is something not needed / not wanted). The wording "workstation" is standard. Each Windows computer on its own is a "workstation". This does not mean or imply anything nefarious. This is normal. 😀 and yes, "workgroup" is also standard. That is shown because of the inherent ability of each pc to ( if desired) to join a network. The mention of that phrase does not mean that evil is about. robmairguard Posted November 30, 2022 Author ID:1543930 Share Posted November 30, 2022 you have been a pc hero to me last week or so I thank you and I will take the advice to stop poking around :) Its like I hit 40 and became a paranoid old man lol
Maurice Naggar Posted November 30, 2022 ID:1543937 Share Posted November 30, 2022 You are very welcome. I am glad to have worked with you. We can proceed with cleanup of tools we used. To remove the FRSTENGLISH tool & its work files, do this. Go to your Downloads folder. Do a RIGHT-click on FRSTENGLISH.exe & select RENAME & then change it to UNINSTALL.exe . Then run that ( double click on it) to begin the cleanup process. Delete mb-support-1.8.7.918.exe Delete mbst-grab-results.zip on the Desktop. Any other download file I had you download, you may delete. Consider using PatchMyPC, keep all your software up-to-date - https://patchmypc.com/home-updater#download Keep your system and programs up to date. Several programs release security updates on a regular basis to patch vulnerabilities. Keeping your software patched up prevents attackers from being able to exploit them to drop malware. I am marking this case for closure. I wish you all the best. Stay safe. Sincerely. Maurice
