mbam.exe won't install, code 2 error

Hi all,

Would appreciate any help- I don't have great access to any other PCs (work won't let me download mbam.exe on their computers). Long story, but apparanetly got the Vundo virus. I have Spybot and McAfee- McAfee noticed the problem but it got through anyway. It took out my existing version of Malwarebytes, and now I get the Code2 error when trying to reinstall.

I took a chance and ran ComboFix, which seemed to help (at the least, I'm now able to get on IE at home, which I wasn't able to before). I still can't install Malwarebytes though, which tells me the problem isn't entirely gone.

Hi,

To run malwarebytes when you get the error code 2 during install, or mbam.exe gets deleted, please see here:

Once malwarebytes opens, click the "Update" tab, click "Check for Updates" in order to download the updates.

Then run the scan, let mbam quarantine/delete what it found and reboot afterwards.

After reboot, post the malwarebytes log together with a new HijackThislog.

But, in your case, since you don't have another computer with malwarebytes installed, please download this renamed version of mbam.exe:

Then place the explorer.exe in your c:\program Files\malwarebytes' antimalware folder and launch it from there.

Once malwarebytes opens, click the update tab and let it download the updates. Then run the scan and post the log in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog
