I actually uninstall Groove Music from EVERY computer I service.

It is fine if you wish to purchase music directly from Microsoft. I feel the same about the movies and TV app as well.

I don't see any buttons to purchase music anywhere on the app interface. It is just an audio player that plays my locally installed audio.

The pink button below is just an advertisement for another app.

That's what VLC Player is but goes further such as download, stream and convert.  It has a very broad CODEC base and plays a plethora of media files.

The music store was discontinued. The player was kept so users who bought music can still play them. The player is now just a redundant player.

What's happening to the Groove Music app?

We’ll continue to update the Windows 10 Groove Music apps for PC, Xbox, and Windows Phone so you can play your purchased music. On December 31, 2017, the option to stream, purchase, and download music from Groove Music was discontinued. If your purchased music was downloaded, you’ll still be able to listen to it.

Thank you for suggestion! I’ll take into consideration. But what are the differences between GrooveM and MediaP
